Every time before disconnecting the condenser from the rotary evaporator
you must first empty the circulating chiller in the way described if a large-
capacity condenser (e.g. condenser G4) is being used. This is necessary
because the circulating volume is greater in this case than the capacity of
the expansion vessel.
9. Setting up the rotary evaporator
The rotary evaporator (P) is set up on the flat surface of the circulating chiller. The control
panel and right edge of the rotary evaporator LABOROTA 4000 ff must be flush with the
edges of the circulating chiller.
10. Setting up the vacuum pump ROTAVAC vario control
The vacuum pump ROTAVAC vario control (Q) is set up on the circulating chiller. The rubber
feet of ROTAVAC vario control is placed in special cups (V) on the top of the circulating
chiller to prevent inadvertent slippage.
Before commencing operation, make sure all the tubes have been
properly connected and are leak-proof as the circulating pump will start
up as soon as the ON/OFF switch is actuated.
Press the ON/OFF switch (H) to commence operation. The integrated control lamp will
confirm operation. Tempering and the circulating pump will start up. When the appliance is
switched on, all five segments of the temperature display (K) will light up for approx. 5
seconds. After this, the actual temperature will be displayed, which means that the controller
is now ready for operation. The red LED (L) will show the actual status of the refrigerating
machine:
LED on: performance adjustment on
LED off: performance adjustment off
The ROTACOOL is equipped with a level switch which means that the
appliance will not start up if there is not enough cooling liquid or no
cooling liquid at all in the bath (temperature display (K) not active). If this
is the case, top up the cooling liquid (see ASSEMBLY).
Target advance temperature
Call up the target temperature by depressing the „SET" key (M) next to the display. Keeping
this key depressed, you can adjust the target temperature by pressing the cursor keys " "
(N) (which increases the value) and "
advance temperature again as soon as you release the "SET" key.
The cooling air for the refrigerating machine is sucked in through the liquefier in the base of
the housing. The liquefier should be cleaned from time to time. To do this, tip the discharged
appliance onto its back. The fins of the black liquefier (U) can now be cleaned using a brush
