WLAN information
WLAN networks
The acronym WLAN stands for Wireless Local Area Network, and is used to describe a network in which data is transmitted
within a defined area using radio waves. WLAN devices communicate wirelessly according to IEEE 802.11 standards.
Range and connection quality
The range and connection quality of WLAN devices can be affected by several factors:
1. Structural considerations (such as the thickness or building materials of walls)
2. Interference caused by other devices transmitting radio waves at 2.4 GHz
(such as other WLAN devices, routers or microwaves)
3. Inopportune positioning of WLAN devices, for example behind obstacles or in
the corner of a room.
