1. GENERAL DESCRIPTION

First of all, we would like to thank you for deciding to pur-
chase the ESAL Base saline electrolysis equipment which
we hope will help to keep your pool in perfect condition,
without the need to add any other disinfectant products.
The ESPA saline chlorinators keep the water in your pool
clean and crystal clear, without having to add any chemical
disinfectants.
The saline chlorinating system for pools creates the chlorine
in the filtering facility through the electrolysis of slightly salty
water. This produces "free chlorine" (hypochlorous acid or
HOCl), a strong bactericidal agent that gives results that are
similar to the chemicals habitually added.
One important characteristic of the system is that it is re-
versible, i.e., once the active elements have reacted with
the organisms present in the pool water, common salt and
water appear in the pool again. There is no need to add any
other chemical products to the water (algicides, cyanuric
acid, etc.) and so the water quality does not deteriorate.
Slightly salty water is healthier: it makes the skin less wrin-
kled, does not irritate the eyes, the iodine in the salt tans
the body, etc.
The equipment consists of an electronic control and regu-
lation device and an electrolysis cell, usually installed in the
vertical filtering circuit return path that makes the pool wa-
ter circulate.
With ESAL Base, expenses and time spent on pool main-
tenance are drastically reduced.
If you keep the saline chlorination equipment operating
permanently, you will not have to change the pool water
for several years (from 8 to 15, depending on use), thereby
collaborating with the new environmental awareness and
policies and ensuring water management and savings.

1.1 SAFETY ELEMENTS

To prevent the equipment from operating under abnormal
conditions, the control units constantly measures the pa-
rameters and electrolysis circuit conditions, so that if the
dissolved salt levels or water flow in the cell are incorrect,
the power circuit is automatically disconnected, generating
a luminous alarm that flashes until the anomaly has been
corrected.
It also has a short circuit or excess voltage detection system
in the chlorinating cell, which automatically disconnects the
power circuit, and activates a flashing alarm and buzzer.
After a certain time, the equipment is automatically reset.
