Bottom Blade Removal / Installation
Removal and installation of the bottom blade
requires the use of the Blade Installation and
Removal Tool (BIRT) .
WARNING
STRONG MAGNETIC FIELD
To prevent injury, do not attempt to
remove or install a bottom blade without
a Blade Installation and Removal Tool.
Magnetic forces can pinch fingers
between bottom blade and bottom block
and cause serious injury.
Damage to watches and magnetic media
possible.
Removal
1.
Place cutting unit upside down on workbench.
2.
Attach one BIRT X to each end of bottom
blade Y. BIRT should be orientated as
shown.
3.
Rotate BIRT X towards rear of cutting unit.
Front of bottom blade Y should lift off the
Bottom Block Z
4.
Using the rear roller as a fulcrum, lift the
bottom blade of the bottom block.
Installation
1.
Attach one BIRT X to each end of bottom
blade Y.
2.
Ensure mating surfaces are clean and
magnets do not protrude above surface of
bottom block.
3.
Bring rear edge of bottom blade Y towards
rear edge of bottom block Z. Magnetic force
will pull the bottom blade to the bottom block
Z.
NOTE: Rear edge of the bottom blade Y must be
behind the two alignment pins.
4.
Rotate the bottom blade forward into place.
Remove the BIRT and tap the bottom blade Y
into place using a rubber mallet, until the
bottom blade snaps into place.
5.
Inspect alignment to ensure bottom blade Y is
correctly seated on bottom block Z.

For your protection wear thick leather
work gloves when removing and
installing blades.
