CPU801 Fixing Instructions
Fig. 1: CPU801
Introduction
Use this leaflet when installing a CPU801 central
processor unit into a fire alarm control panel:
Either install the CPU801 as an upgrade to the
existing CPU800.
Or install the CPU801 as a replacement for a
faulty CPU800 or CPU801.
Installation
To fit the CPU801
1 Make sure a PC is available, running FireClass
Express.
2 Check that the site configuration is still availa-
ble as an FireClass Express file.
If not, you might have to upload the configu-
ration from the panel into FireClass Express.
For details refer to the FireClass Express
help.
3 Power down the control panel.
4 Locate the existing CPU, mounted on the FIM
(see Fig. 2). The board is held in place by
Installation Doc. version 1
being fixed to the standoffs, and by its con-
nector with the FIM (see Fig. 2).
5 For a CPU801 disconnect any cables to the
CPU (such as the Ethernet or earth cable, see
Fig. 2).
6 Dismount the CPU. Squeeze in the locking
tabs of the nylon standoffs, or remove the
nuts from the metal standoffs, and carefully
prize off the CPU.
7 Locate the new CPU801 over the same con-
nector and standoffs and press down evenly
into place. Re-fit the standoff nuts if applica-
ble.
8 Re-fit any cables to the CPU. For a CPU
upgrade, fit one of the supplied earth cables
(as appropriate to your panel).
To do this, on the CPU board, attach the cable
to the tag marked "X401" (see Fig. 2). Attach
the other end to the chassis earth (see Fig. 3).
9 Download the firmware and site configuration
from FireClass Express as described in the
FireClass Express help.
