Important note
The products described here were developed to perform safety-oriented functions as
part of an overall installation or machine. A complete safety-oriented system generally
features sensors, evaluation units, signaling units, and reliable shutdown concepts. It
is the responsibility of the manufacturer to ensure that a system or machine is func-
tioning properly as a whole. Siemens AG, its regional offices, and associated compa-
nies (hereinafter referred to as "Siemens") cannot guarantee all the properties of an
entire plant, system or machine that has not been designed by Siemens.
Nor can Siemens assume liability for recommendations that appear or are implied in
the following description. No new guarantee, warranty, or liability claims beyond the
scope of the Siemens general terms of supply are to be derived or inferred from the
following description.
Note: Further information is provided on the attached
Applications
The SENTRON PAC3200 is a Power Monitoring Device for displaying relevant system
parameters in low-voltage power distribution. It is capable of single-phase, two-phase
or three-phase measurement and can be used in two-wire, three-wire, four-wire, TN,
TT and IT systems.
The version with extra-low voltage power supply can only be used for supply voltages
of 22 ... 65 V DC.
In addition to Ethernet, an optional expansion module such as the PAC PROFIBUS
DP can be used for communication.
The SENTRON PAC3200 also includes the following features:
• Monitoring, diagnostic, and service functions
• A two-tariff, active energy and reactive energy counter
• A universal counter
• A working hours counter for monitoring the runtime of connected loads
• A multifunctional digital input and digital output
• Password protection
Tools required for installation
You require the following tools for installation:
• Cutting tool for the panel cutout
• PZ2 cal. screwdriver ISO 6789
• Crimping tool in accordance with EN 60947-1
Mounting
Mounting position: vertical in fixed panels inside an enclosed dry room. See Figure 1.
If you are using the expansion module, mount it after installing but before commis-
sioning the SENTRON PAC3200. Observe the ESD guidelines.
• Ensure safe isolation from supply.
• Discharge yourself.
• Mount the Power Monitoring Device.
Installation steps
1. Cut a hole in the panel measuring 92.0+0.8 x 92.0+0.8 mm
ent). See Figure 2.
2. Discharge any static from your body.
3. Slide the device into the cutout from the outside. See Figure 6 + 7.
4. Carry out all other installation steps from the inside of the switching panel.
5. Clamp the device to the switching panel using the two brackets provided. See Fig-
ures 8 + 9.

(if not already pres-
To do this, proceed as follows:
a)Hold the device firmly in position with one hand.
b)Hang the brackets onto the left and right sides of the housing by guiding the lugs
on the bracket (2) into the slot on the housing (1).
c)Tighten the locking hook.
Do this by placing your index and middle fingers on the support arms and using
your thumb to engage the locking hook as shown in Fig. 10.
6. Tighten the 4 screws in the two brackets evenly with a tightening torque of 0.03
Nm. See Figure 11.
7. An optional expansion module can be connected. You can find the installation
instructions in the Operating Instructions of the expansion module.

DANGER
!
Electric shock and burn hazard
Will cause death, serious injury or property damage.
• Use appropriate personal protective equipment. Follow safe electrical work
practices and regulations (i.e. DIN VDE, NFPA 70E as well as other national
and international standards)
• Only qualified, competent personnel that have appropriate training and experi-
ence with high voltage and current devices should be allowed to install and
service this Power Monitoring Device.
• Inspect the device for possible damage. A damaged Power Monitoring Device
must never be installed or energized.
• Turn off all power supplying the Power Monitoring Device, the equipment in
which the Power Monitoring Device is installed and the circuit it is monitoring
before working on the Power Monitoring Device.
• Before wiring the device, ensure that the ratings for each circuit connected fall
within the ratings defined on the Power Monitoring Devices nameplate.
• Devices with ring lug terminals (see Fig. 14) are only enivsaged for:
- use in NAFTA / USA and
- regions in which open terminals are permitted.
• Supply voltage
Secure the supply voltage with an approved (UL / IEC) fuse:
- SENTRON PAC3200 with multi-range power supply 0.6 A, type C,
- SENTRON PAC3200 with extra-low voltage power supply 1.0 A, type C.
If a melting fuse is used, a suitable approved (UL / IEC) fuse holder has to be
used. In addition, a suitable isolating device shall be connected upstream in
order to be able to disconnect the device from the power supply!
• Voltage measuring inputs
With either a direct connection or a voltage transformer connection, the
device has to be safeguarded with an approved (UL / IEC) 10 A backup fuse
or an approved (UL / IEC) 10 A miniature circuit breaker. Never short the sec-
ondary side of a voltage transformer!
• Current measuring inputs
Electric shock and arc flash due to open current transformer secondary
loops.
It is only possible to measure the current via a current transformer connection.
The secondary current loop must never have a fuse or interrupting device.
Never open the current loop on the secondary side of a current transformer
under load. Before removing the meter, insure that the current loops are
shorted using shorting terminal blocks. The safety information for connected
current transformers must be observed!
Note:
Qualified Personnel are persons who are familiar with the installation, assembly,
commissioning and operation of the product and who possess the following quali-
fications:
• training or instruction and authority to operate and service devices/systems
according to all applicable safety standards and rules for electric circuits and
devices
• education or instruction in the maintenance and use of appropriate safety
equipment according to all applicable safety standards
• first aid training
