INSTRUCTIONS & PARTS LIST FOR IW38TAP-2Q, IW38TAP-3P
Read and understand "Safety Instructions For Air Tools" and these instructions before operating this tool.
FORESEEN USE OF TOOL
Impact wrenches should only be used to install and remove threaded fasteners.
AIR SUPPLY
The efficiency of the tool is dependent on the proper supply of clean dry air at 90 psig (6.2 bar). The use of a line filter, pressure regulator,
and lubricator will insure maximum output and life of tools. Before connecting tool, blow out the air line to remove water and dirt which may
have accumulated.
HOSE AND HOSE CONNECTIONS
Supply hose should be not less than 3/8" (10 mm) I.D. Extension hoses should be at least 3/8" (10 mm) I.D. Use couplings and fittings with
at least 3/8" (10 mm) I.D. When using quick couplers, install a 6 ft (2 m) leader hose between tool and quick couplers.
LUBRICATION
Use SIOUX No. 288 air motor oil. An airline lubricator, set to deliver 3 drops per minute, is recommended. If a lubricator is not used, add
.06 oz. (1.8 cc, 18 to 22 drops) of oil into the air inlet once daily.
MAINTENANCE
Disassemble, clean, and inspect the impact mechanism every two months. Coat all impact surfaces, splines and mating surfaces with
Sioux Catalog No. 1236 grease and reassemble.
REVERSING SPINDLE ROTATION
The direction of the spindle rotation is controlled with the reversing lever. Move the reverse lever to the symbol that matches the direction
you want the spindle to rotate.
Clockwise rotation when viewed from rear.
Counterclockwise rotation when viewed from rear.
SOCKETS
Use only impact sockets in good shape.
Use deep impact socket impact rather than extension bars.
IF THE TOOL LOOSES POWER, CHECK THE FOLLOWING:
• Air Pressure
Ensure that there is an adequate supply of clean, dry air at 90 psi (6.2 bars).
• Sockets
Check for loose, worn, or cracked sockets.
• Hose Size
Ensure that the hoses, couplers and fittings meet the criteria specified in "HOSE AND HOSE CONNECTIONS" above.
• Dirt or Debris In Tool or Muffler
Clean tool or muffler as needed.
