F – PROCEDURE FOR CHANGING THE TWO CABLES
Material required :
One 8 mm open-ended spanner
One end-fitting cable spare kit ref : PR 0012 comprising 2 universal cables and 1 spring.
1) Removing the safety and traction cables
a) In the working position, remove the central beam and the arms. Remove the head, ref. PR0341 after
removing clips. Remove the winch casing.
b) Unwind the winch's 2 cables completely (pull on them). The 2 cables are fixed on the winch's reel
by means of 2 cable clamps. Remove the 2 cable clamps on the outside of the reel then, using the 8
mm open-ended spanner and the pliers, unscrew the 2 cable clamps. The 2 cables are thus released.
c) Loosening the nut brake HM 8 and removing the screw H M8 x 65 in order to take off the top flange
of the intermediate column and the release the columns' frame. (See drawing C on page 16)
d) Remove the pulleys situated at the top of the frame, item 3, removing the circlip situated at the end of
the pin by means of circlip pliers. (See drawing C on page 16)
e) Take out the inner column item 1 and intermediate column item 2 assembly (with the cables).
Position this assembly horizontally on 2 trestles (see drawing C on page 16).
f) Separate the inner column item 1 from the intermediate column item 2 (see drawing B on page 16).
g) Remove the worn traction cable from the cable hooking support. Replace the latter with the new
cable (see drawing A on page 16)
h) Using pliers, move the spring's loop away so as to disengage the spring from the column. Replace
the worn safety cable with the new cable, fixing one of the loops of the new spring to the cable's
loop. Fix the other loop of the spring to the column (see drawing A on page 16)
2) Refitting the cables
a) Slip the inner column with the cables into the intermediate column item 2, (See drawing B on page
16) then insert the cables into the housings of the pulleys removed from the intermediate column,
item 2, then insert these cables in the same way on the bottom pulleys removed from the intermediate
column.
b) Refit the columns assembly in the panel lifter, taking care not to trap the cables (operation "e" to be
carried out in the reverse order, see drawing C page 16), then insert the cables into the housings of
the pulleys removed from the frame, item 3.
c) Refit the pulleys and their pins, making sure that the cables are inserted at the top of the pulleys, then
refit the circlip into its housing on the pin.
d) Raise the top part of the intermediate column and fix it using the screw and the nut (operation « c » is
to be carried out in reassembly)
e) Refit the two cables onto the winch's reel, taking care not to cross them and inserting them into the
corresponding holes (see sketch D on page 16), manually pull the two cables and fix the cable clamps
on their respective cable, taking care that they are approx. 15 mm from each other (see sketch E on
page 16). Refit the ends of the two cables and the cable clamps inside the reel (see sketch F on page
16). Using the crank handle, wind the cables onto the winch.
f) Refit the head, the beam and the arms, then do a few raising and lowering tests (with no load).
g) Refit the winch casing.
RECOMMENDATIONS :
* Do not overlap the cables when refitting.
* Take care to make the position of each part visible before removing it so as to limit the risks or
errors.
