Connecting the supply lines
O
Connect the supply lines to connections 1, 3, and 5 on the right and/or left end plate.
If more connections are required for supply and exhaust air, connect the compressed
air and exhaust lines parallel on both end plates.
O
If a supply plate is available, also connect the compressed air and exhaust air lines to it.
Connecting the external pilot control air
O
Connect the external pilot control air at connection X on the left end plate.
Connecting the pilot exhaust air
O
Connect the pilot exhaust air at connection R on the right end plate.

HF02-LG: Setting the operating mode on the VS
The pilot air cover makes it possible to switch the valve system operating mode between internal
pilot control (1) and external pilot control (X).
1. Loosen the hexagonal socket-head screw on the pilot air cover (1).
2. Lift the pilot air cover (2).
3. Turn the pilot air cover by 90° and reinsert it (3).
4. Make sure that the seals have been inserted correctly.
5. Retighten the pilot air cover (4), tightening torque: 2.5 + 0.5 Nm.
The new operating mode is now set.

Connecting the electrics
Dangerous voltage
1)
Danger to life due to short circuits and electric shocks caused by unsafe power supply
1)
isolations, improper grounding, and insufficient external fuse protection for the solenoid
control.
O
Only provide a 24 V DC voltage supply with safe isolation via a power pack in accordance
1)
with EN 60742, classification VDE 0551.
O
Always connect the GND pin when wiring.
O
Protect the solenoid control with an external fuse.

High current load
2)
M7
Current loads over 1 A per connector pin will damage the system.
O
2)
Do not exceed the permissible current load of 1 A per connector pin.

1. Ensure that enough free space is left for the electrical connections so that the permissible
minimum bending radii are adhered to.
2)
G1/4"
2. Only for the HF04 and HF04-XF: Establish the PE connection in accordance with EN 50178:
To do this, connect the function ground with the M5 screw (
(classification VDE 160, VDE 100).
3. Finish off the preassembled cable with a D-sub mating plug and connect it to the electrical
control system.
Tip: Preassembled cables with suitable D-Sub mating plugs can be found in our online
catalog at www.aventics.com/pneumatics-catalog.
4. Insert the D-Sub mating plug into the D-Sub connection and screw it down.
IP65 protection is only ensured with a correctly fitted D-Sub mating plug.
Pin assignment of the D-Sub connection
Pin assignment of the base plate for double solenoid valves
There are two controls (connector pins) permanently assigned to valve solenoids 12 and 14 for
each valve position.
W
Only solenoid 14 must be connected in 5/2-way valves with spring or pneumatic return. The
second control for solenoid 12 remains unused.
W
There are the following assignments for 3/2-way valves:
– Solenoid 14 and pneumatic connection 4
– Solenoid 12 and pneumatic connection 2
Pin assignment of the base plate for single solenoid valves
