15.3 MAINTENANCE
The maintenance operations must be performed by an authorized operator who will have to:
•
carefully cleave the stove;
•
check the sealing of the gaskets;
•
check the opening mechanism.
•
check the wear state of the elements.
15.3.1 Servicing and cleaning the fume exhaust duct
To be performed at least once a years or every 40 quintals of burnt fuel.
Incrustations, once they reach a thickness of 5-6 mm, may catch fire if there are sparks or high temperatures.
In case of failure to clean or inadequate cleaning, the stove may have problems in operating properly such as:
-
poor combustion;
-
blackening of glass;
-
poor draft with smoke entering the room.
15.4 WHAT TO DO IF THE STOVE DOES NOT WORK
15.4.1 Problems lighting the fire
•
Open the primary air and the smoke register
•
Use well-dried wood
•
Check that the flue pipe is suitable for the stove being used;
15.4.2 Smoke comes out of plate
•
Check that the primary air register is open
•
Check that the chimney connection has no leaks
•
Check that ashes and combustion residues are not clogging the discharge duct or the grille
•
Insufficient draught
15.4.3 Glass gets dirty too quickly
•
Damp wood: use well-dried wood (15% relative humidity)
•
Check that ashes and combustion residues are not clogging the discharge duct or the grille
•
Unsuitable fuel
•
Too much fuel
•
Insufficient draught (see connection and flue pipe)
15.4.4 Condensation in combustion chamber
•
The first few times the stove is lit, it is normal for condensation to form, since the cladding materials contain humidity
•
If the problem persists, make sure the wood being used is not damp or poorly seasoned
•
Check that the chimney is not too large and whether the fire heats it all the way to the top;
