IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
• Read all instructions.
• Do not operate the lamp with a damaged cord or if the lamp has been damaged.
• Never use this equipment in any manner not specifi ed in these instructions because
the protection provided by the equipment may be impaired.
• The TRITAN 450 is not approved for use in hazardous atmospheres. Do not attempt
to use it in areas requiring explosion-proof lighting.
OPERATION
• The TRITAN 450 is equipped with an 8-foot (2.4 m) heavy-duty cord ending in an
AC plug with a protective rubber boot.
• The lamp is shipped with the correct cord installed for the country of destination.
• Connect the plug to a power source that complies with the electrical requirements
specifi ed on the label.
• The lamp has an ON/OFF switch located on the handle.
WARNING: Be sure to use genuine TRITAN 450 replacement parts. Using another
manufacturer's replacement parts could affect product performance and will void the
lamp warranty.
CHANGING THE LAMP CORD
• The appropriate cord for the country of destination will be installed on the lamp
when it is ordered. To separate the cord from the lamp, turn the locking device at
the top portion of the bayonet connector counterclockwise (see Figure 1).
• To attach a new cord, align the small peg on the lamp handle's terminal to the
corresponding groove on the cord's terminal connector, and push them together
carefully so that the pins do not become bent. Turn the locking device on the top
portion of the bayonet connector clockwise until secure (see Figure 2).
REMOVING THE FILTER PROTECTOR
The outer rubber fi lter protector may be removed periodically to clean the fi lter. Peel around
the edge of the fi lter protector to remove it. The fi lter should remain inside the protector.
Turn the inner lamp-housing ring clockwise in bayonet fashion to remove it and to reach the
faceplate. Without removing the screws, gently pull the LED assembly away from the handle.
Push the assembly back into the handle and replace the housing ring and the fi lter protector.
REPLACING THE PARTICULATE FILTER ASSEMBLY
After repeated use, the foam particulate fi lter may need to be replaced. Insert a fl at-head
screwdriver into the notch on the fi lter assembly and pry the two halves apart.
Replace it with a new fi lter assembly. NOTE: The serial number is etched on the top of
the handle right below the particulate fi lter assembly.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
The TRITAN 450 series lamps are designed to be safe under the following
conditions:
• Indoor use;
• Altitude up to 2,000 m (6,562 ft.);
• Temperature 5°C to 40°C (41°F to 104°F);
• Maximum relative humidity 80% for temperatures up to 31°C (88°F), decreasing
linearly to 50% relative humidity at 40°C (104°F);
You must wear the yellow fl uorescence-enhancing spectacles
supplied. The lamp should be used in low-light conditions to achieve
the best inspection results.
• Mains supply voltage fl uctuations not to exceed ±10% of the nominal voltage;
• Installation Category II;
• Pollution Degree 2.
LIMITED WARRANTY
The warranty policy for the TRITAN 450 lamp is provided on the Certifi cate of Limited
Warranty enclosed separately with each unit.
NOTE: For assistance of any kind, please contact the Customer Service Department at
Spectronics Corporation. Give the model and serial numbers of the unit and the date of
purchase. NOTE: The serial number is etched on the top of the handle right below the
particulate fi lter assembly.
