COOLING/HEATING MODE
CHANGEOVER
The AER503IR thermostat can manage the
season changeover in a different manner via
the parameter P1
:
5
P1
= 0 => Automatic management of

the operating season
P1
= 1 => Heating only
5
P1
= 2 => Cooling only

The various permitted methods of season
changeover if P1
= 0 are indicated below.

ACCESSORY FUNCTIONS
ENABLING VENTILATION
The figure shown in the section SEASON
CHANGEOVER ON THE BASIS OF WATER
in addition to indicating season change
thresholds on the water side, it also identifies
ventilation enabling thresholds in Heating
mode (Minimum Control) and Cooling
mode (Maximum Control ). Depending on
the parameter P04, Normal band is chosen
(enabling heating to 39°C, enabling cooling to
17°C) or Reduced Band (enabling heating to
35°C, enabling cooling to 22°C). The absence
of a water probe for 2-pipe systems prevents
not only season operating changeovers but
also Minimum water temperature checks in
Heating and Maximum water temperature
checks in Cooling, so ventilation is always
active. In the case of a 4-pipe system, the
thermostat manages only one water probe
which is used only for minimum control of
heat ventilation.

COLD PLASMA

If the accessory configured via parameter P05
is the air purifier (Cold Plasma/bactericidal
lamp), the "AUX" position is used to purify the
air regardless of the thermostat operation
requests. This type of accessory is activated
even if the operating speed selector is not on
"AUX". To run the purifying device at minimum
speed regardless of the thermostat requests,
use the "AUX" position. In this position, the

the left-hand LED correspond to the active

Cooling mode. This avoids unwanted cold
ventilation during the winter, and controls
the activation and deactivation of all the
terminals on the basis of the effective state of
the water available (centralised control of the
AMBIENT PROBE MANAGEMENT
The AER503IR thermostat has standard an
in-built air probe, and in order to improve the
control of the room temperature it is possible
to install an ambient air probe to be installed
on the fan coil or in the room.
The adjustment manages the air sensors as

thermostat will always activate ventilation
at the minimum speed, as shown in Table "
Gradual ventilation start-up", closing the shut-
off device that is advisable to use alongside
this function to avoid any deterioration of the
environment (overheating or undercooling).
The air purifying device must be connected
to output Y2 instead of the second valve. The
thermostat is configured for managing the

SEASON CHANGEOVER ON THE BASIS
OF THE AIR
There are certain types of system in which the
season changeover depends on the air:

All 4-pipe systems
The season changeover takes place on the
Heating
Caldo
basis of the following criterion:
Cooling mode: if the room temperature is
lower than the set value and the difference is
Normal band
equal to the dead band (2°C or 5°C), heating
(P04 = 0)
mode is activated.
Reduced band
(P04 = 1)
Heating mode: if the room temperature is
higher than the set value and the difference is
equal to the dead band (2°C or 5°C), cooling
mode is activated. The dead band is decided
via parameter P0
band of 5°C whereas with P0
band is 2°C.
The anti-freeze protection function makes
sure the ambient temperature never falls
to freezing values (even when the selector
is OFF). If the temperature falls below 7°C,
the thermostat works in HEATING with a set
value of 12°C and AUTO ventilation (as long
as the water temperature allows it). If there
is no water probe, or continuous ventilation
is enabled, the fan is always active. If there is
a valve and an upstream water probe, or no
water probe, the heat exchanger undergoes a
pre-heating cycle in any case. The thermostat

temperature rises above 9°C.

Plasma is powered simultaneously with the
ventilation function, in both heating and
cooling mode. As described above, the Cold
Plasma device in position "AUX" is used only
for purification while in the other positions
(except OFF) it is activated in relation to
thermostat operation requirements. In the
case of continuous ventilation (P0
