Vertical test
Place the unit on a hard surface which is as vertical
as possible. Switch the inclination gauge on using the
on/off button and after 10 seconds note the value it
displays. Rotate through 180˚, wait 10 seconds and
compare the two values. If the difference between the
two values is more than 0.1˚, then the unit needs
recalibrating.

ALTERNATE ZERO MODE

How to set an alternate zero point
1. Press the 'HOLD/COPY' button to freeze the new
reference angle on the display.
2. Press the 'Cal/Alt 0' button to convert the new
reference angle to display as the new zero point. The
display then shows 'Alt', then -0-, then 0. A dot then
continuously flashes at the top of the display. The
display arrows indicate the direction to the
new reference angle. Press the Listen and Level Audio
button to turn on or off the new beeper function.
3. Turn off the alternate zero mode by either pressing
the 'HOLD/COPY' button, or by pressing the 'Cal/Alt
0' button.

'LISTEN AND LEVEL BEEPER'

1. To activate the beeper function, press the Listen
and Level Audio button. Beeping begins at
approximately 1.5˚ either side of 0˚, 90˚ or
'Alternate Zero' or 'Angle Copy' angle. The beep rate
increases as the target angle is approached
becoming a steady tone when the target angle is
achieved. The tone of the beep is different depending
on the direction of approach to the target angle. This
shows which direction to move the level.
2. Turn the Listen and Level beeper off by pressing
the Listen and Level Audio button.

ANGLE COPY MODE

1. To copy angles, place unit on angle to be copied.
2. Press the 'HOLD/COPY' button and press the
Listen and Level Audio button. The level will then
begin beeping. The beep (symbol) and mode symbols
will flash. The copied angle will remain frozen on the
display. The beeper will sound when the unit is
returned to this angle. The display arrows show the
direction to the copied angle.

3. Pressing the Listen and Level Audio button returns
the level to Hold mode.
4. To turn the Angle Copy mode and Hold mode off,
press either the 'ON/OFF' button or 'HOLD/COPY'
button.

RECALIBRATION

This procedure is very similar to the calibration tests
themselves. However, you must press the button
marked 'Cal/Alt 0' after each operation as described
below.
Horizontal recalibration
Place the inclination unit on a smooth surface which
is as level as possible. Switch the unit on using the
on/off button and wait 10 seconds. Then press the
'Cal/Alt 0' button and hold for 2 seconds. CAL 1
briefly appears in the display, and the measured value
then starts flashing. Rotate through 180˚ on the
same surface and wait another 10 seconds. Press
the 'Cal/Alt 0' button again holding for 2 seconds.
CAL 2 should briefly appear in the display. The
inclination gauge is now horizontally calibrated.
Vertical recalibration
Place the inclination unit on a hard surface which is
as level as possible. Switch the unit on using the
on/off button and wait 10 seconds. Then press the
'Cal/Alt 0' button and hold for 2 seconds. CAL 1
briefly appears in the display, and the measured value
then starts flashing. Rotate through 180˚ and wait for
a further 10 seconds. Press the 'Cal/Alt
0' button again holding for 2 seconds. CAL 2 should
briefly appear in the display. The inclination gauge is
now vertically calibrated.
Please note: If you press the 'Cal/Alt 0' button and
the inclinometer is well out of true, --- appears in the
display and the calibration attempt is ignored. This
applies to both the horizontal and vertical procedure.
