6. STARTING UP
If the pump is delivered as an individual part, as
CAUTION !
not integrated into a system we mounted, the
standard configuration mode is either the MODE 1-3, or the MODE 2
following the driven mode choose at the orderof the pump.
Reminder : The change of the converter parameters from Mode 1-3
to Mode 2 (or reverse) is carried out by the programming key, the
action of an after-sales technician is required.
6.1 Configurations
- In manual mode : MODE 1 (see fig. 1 & 2).
When changing the motor speed with the potentiometer (fig. 9 -
item 19) you reach the working point of the pump ; from 40 to 100%
of the maximum speed.
For the starting up, we recommend to regulate the motor speed at
70 %.
- In mode with pressure regulation : MODE 2 (see fig. 6 - 7 - 8).
The addition of a pressure sensor and a tank allows a pressure
regulation of the pump.
The accuracy of the sensor is 1% and it is used between 30 % and
100 % of the measuring scale range. The tank must have a useful
volume of 8L minimum. With no water in the tank, pressurize the
tank to a pressure 0.3 bar less than the pressure regulation of the
pump. (tank and sensor kit delivered as accessories.
The set value for pressure regulation is put :
• The adjustment by the potentiometer give a set value between 0
and 100% of the sensor range, for the starting up, we recommend
to regulate the potentiometer at 100 %.
• By an external signal (0-10V or 0-20 mA ) for driving the pump from
outside (see & 5.3 – Electric connection).
Remark : The function « detection of zero flow » allows the stop of the
pump.
- With external control of frequency : MODE 3 (see fig. 10).
The potentiometer has no function any more, the pump is
controlled by an external signal.
For the starting up, please refer to the users instruction of the booster.
In normal operation the state of the leds is as follows (fig. 8 - item 17-18)

6.2 Preliminary rinsing
Each of our pumps is tested regarding hydraulic features in
factory, some water may remain in them. It is recommended
for hygien purposes, to carry out a rinsing of the pump before
any using with potable water supply.
6.3 Filling - degassing
Never operate the pump dry,
CAUTION !
even briefly.
Pump under pressure (see fig. 2)
- Close the discharge valve (item 3).
- Open the venting plug (item 5), the suction valve (item 2) and
completely fill the pump.
In hot water, a stream of water may escape from the
venting plug port. Take all required precautions as regards
persons and motor-converter.
Pump in suction (see fig. 1) : two possible cases.
1st case (see fig. 4.1)
- Close the discharge valve (fig. 1 - item 3)
- Open the suction valve (fig. 1 - item 2).
- Unscrew the filling plug (fig. 1 - item 5) located on the pump
casing.
- Put a funnel into the plug port and fill the pump slowly and

completely and then the suction pipe.
- After water flows out and total air exit, filling is achieved.
- Screw the plug back in.
2nd case (see fig. 4.2)
Filling can be made easier by fitting on the suction pipe of the
pump, a vertical pipe (fig. 4 - item 12) fitted with a Ø 1/2 stopcock
and a funnel.
- Close the discharge valve (fig. 1 - item 3).
- Open the suction valve (fig. 1 - item 2).
- Open the stopcock (fig. 4 - item 12) and the filling plug (fig. 1 -
item 5).
- Fill the pump and the suction pipe completely until water flows out
of the filling plug and air bubbles have completely disappeared.
- Close the stopcock (fig. 4 - item 12) (which can be left in place),
remove the pipe and screw the filling plug back in (fig. 1 - item 5).
6.4. Starting up
Depending on conveyed fluid and running of pump, surface
temperature can exceed 68°C. Take necessary means to
avoid injuries.
The pump must not operate at zero flow (closed
CAUTION !
discharge valve) for more than 10 minutes.
We recommend to ensure a minimum flow of about 10 % of the
nominal flow of the pump to avoid the formation of a vapour lock
at the top of the pump.
- Open the discharge valve and start the pump.
- Use a pressure gauge to check the stability of the discharge
pressure; if it is unstable, vent the pump again or perform the filling
operation.
- Check that the current input does not exceed the value indicated
on the identification pump plate.
7. MAINTENANCE
Before any operation,
switch off the pump(s).
No special maintenance in operation. Keep the pump and
the motor-converter perfectly clean.
In case of prolonged stopping, if there is no risk of frost, it is best not
to drain the pump.
To avoid any locking of the shaft and the hydraulic unit during the
freezing period, drain the pump by removing the plug (item 6) and
filling plug (item 5). Screw both plugs back in without tightening
them.
Replacement frequencies
Remark : these are only indications, the replacement frequency
depends on the operating conditions of the unit , i.e. :
• Temperature, pressure and type of the conveyed fluid for the
mechanical seal.
• Load and ambient temperature for the motor and the other
components.
• Starting frequency : continuous or intermittent running.
