Installation of the electric actuator is done in two
stages. Stage 1, items 1–5, stage 2 items 6–7.
IMPORTANT!
Before you adjust the control cable as in items 6
and 7, stage 2 below, the control first must be cali-
brated, as in the instructions in the Calibration be-
fore starting chapter in the instruction book.
The actuator with bracket shall be installed in a dry,
easily accessible location above the waterline. The
actuator shall be installed so that no more than 4 m
of control cable is needed.
The actuator can be installed on a bulkhead on the
port or starboard side, by turning it in the bracket.
Make sure that the bracket is easily accessible and
that the clevis pins (8) are installed as in the illus-
tration. This permits the reversing gear to be operat-
ed manually if the pins are removed.
Stage 1
1.
Put the control cable in the bracket, and install the
flange screw (1) to lock the cable. Install the cable
anchorage (2) on the control cable. Screw the an-
chorage 10 mm up the control cable (please refer to
the illustration). Lock with a nut (3).
2.
Install the cable anchorage (2) on the actuator, us-
ing clevis pin (5) and split pin (6).
3.
Put a spacer (7) between the actuator and bracket,
as shown in the illustration. Install the actuator, us-
ing clevis pin (8) and split pin (6).

4.
Connect the 8-pin connector (9) on the actuator to
the cable. Then connect the 4-pin connector (10) to
the connector above the flywheel housing on the
engine (EDC connector).
The power supply cables shall be connected to +
(R) and to – (SB) on the starter motor, figure 2. In-
stall a cable holder (11) and fix the cable as neces-
sary, using the enclosed tie wraps.
Install at clamp (11) to a bulkhead or other suitable
location, and clamp the cables as necessary, using
the enclosed tie wraps.
NOTE!
If the EDC connector is accessible, the power
supply cables shall be connected there, please refer
to figure 1. Install a cable holder (11) and fix the
cable as necessary, using the enclosed tie wraps.
5.
Clamp the fuse to the starter motor, using a tie wrap
(12).
IMPORTANT!
Calibrate the controls in accordance with the in-
structions in the Calibration before starting chap-
ter in the instruction manual.
Stage 2
WARNING!
The propellers must not be installed at this point.
6.
Turn on the main switch, and put the ignition key in
position 1. Put the control in neutral. Check that the
actuator is in neutral.
Adjust the drive lever to horizontal. Check any play
in the control cable, and adjust as below, figure 3.
Press the cable in as far as possible, then pull it out
as far as possible.
Press the cable back to half the slack distance.
Screw the locknut and nipple on the threaded sec-
tion of the control cable, so far that the nipple can
be installed on the lever without needing to install
the lock pin on the nipple.
7.
Function check by moving the actuator back and
forwards, to ensure that it functions in all operation
modes plus neutral. The lever should have a small
amount of clearance at the end positions.
Install the lock pin and tighten the nipple.
