SOLAR WARNING:
• Never look directly at the Sun with the naked eye or with a telescope unless you have the proper solar fi lter.
Permanent and irreversible eye damage may result.
• Never use your telescope to project an image of the Sun onto any surface. Internal heat build-up can damage the
telescope and any accessories attached to it.
• Never use an eyepiece solar fi lter or a Herschel wedge. Internal heat build-up inside the telescope can cause these
devices to crack or break, allowing unfi ltered sunlight to pass through to the eye.
• Do not leave the telescope unsupervised, especially when children or adults unfamiliar with the correct operating
procedures of your telescope are present.
ASSEMBLING YOUR TELESCOPE
1. Remove all of the protective wrapping around each of the parts of your
telescope.
2. Lay the telescope & mount assembly down on a soft surface.
3. Place the top end of a tripod leg over one of the three hinges on the bottom
of the telescope and mount assembly. Be sure the hinged accessory tray
mount faces toward the center of the telescope and mount assembly.

7. Leg extension clamp
8. Accessory tray with mounting
screws
9. Zoom wheel
10. Focus wheel
4. Remove one of the acorn nuts and one of the red washers from the leg
hinge bolt. Make sure the remaining red washer sits fl ush against the nut still
attached to the hinge bolt.
5. Insert the leg hinge bolt through one side of the wooden leg, through the
brass hinge and out through the other side of the tripod leg and reattach the
red washer and nut. When completed, the red washers should be between
the acorn nuts and the wooden legs.
6. Repeat steps 5 and 6 for the remaining two legs.
7. Remove the three screws, washers and wing nuts from the three corners of
the accessory tray.
8. Insert the screw downward through the tray and then through the accessory
tray mount on one of the tripod legs. Replace the washer and wing nut to the
bottom of the screw and secure fi nger tight.
9. Repeat steps 7 & 8 for the remaining two tripod legs.
USING THE TELESCOPE
To adjust the height of the tripod, securely hold the telescope with one hand
while loosening the tripod leg clamp on one leg. Slide the inner part of the leg
to the desired height and tighten the tripod leg clamp knob. It is best to adjust
one leg at a time.
To aim the telescope, hold the pier with one hand while gently pushing on the
eyepiece end of the tube in the direction you want to go. You can adjust the
tension of the up-and-down motion of the telescope by tightening or loosening
the telescope mounting knob.
To view through the telescope, remove the lens cap and look through the
eyepiece. To focus the image, turn the focus wheel slowly back and forth
until the image is sharp. The built-in zoom eyepiece allows you to change the
amount of magnifi cation the telescope provides from 15x to 45x. To increase
the magnifi cation, turn the zoom wheel clockwise. To lower the magnifi cation,
turn it counterclockwise.
CARE AND CLEANING
While your telescope requires little maintenance, there are a few things to
remember to ensure that it continues performing at its best.
To keep the brass fi nish looking clean and bright, use brass polishing material.
For the wood on the tripod, use furniture polish. Follow the instructions given
with the polishing materials.
Occasionally, dust and/or moisture may build up on the objective lens or
eyepiece of the telescope. Special care should be taken when cleaning any
instrument so as not to damage the optics.
If dust has built up on the optics, remove it with a brush made of camel's hair or
a can of pressurized air. Spray at an angle to the glass surface for approximately
two to four seconds. Then, use an optical cleaning solution and white tissue
paper to remove any remaining debris. Apply the solution to the tissue and then
apply the tissue paper to the optics. Low pressure strokes should go from the
center of the lens to the outer portion. Do not rub in circles!
To minimize the need to clean your telescope, replace the lens cap when not
in use.
