STYLE 994
FLANGE ADAPTER ASSEMBLY
ALWAYS CHECK GASKET SUPPLIED TO BE
CERTAIN IT IS SUITED FOR THE SERVICE IN-
TENDED. REFER TO VICTAULIC GASKET SELEC-
TION GUIDE (05.01).
ALWAYS LUBRICATE GASKET FOR PROPER
COUPLING ASSEMBLY.
NOTE: Victaulic lubricant is NOT recommended for
use with polyethylene pipe.
"S" Max.
1. SQUARE CUT PIPE ENDS: Pipe ends
must be cut square as shown "S" within ¹⁄₈"
(3.2 mm) on pipe 2 - 4" (90 - 220 mm) and
within ⁵⁄₃₂" (4 mm) on 5" (140 mm) and larger
sizes. Ensure pipe ends are clean and free from
damage or scratches within 1" (25.4 mm) from
ends. Remove cutting particles.
2. APPLY HDPE VIC-FLANGE ADAPTER:
Place housing over HDPE pipe. Adapter must
be assembled with rigid gripping teeth on the
HDPE pipe. The flange cavity to receive the
gasket must face the pipe end. Fasten nuts
loosely.
All sizes of HDPE Style 994 cou-
plings have a tongue and recess
feature and must be properly
mated, tongue to recess.
Failure to do so could result in
serious personal injury, prop-
erty damage, joint leakage or
joint separation.
3.
CHECK
POSITION
VIC-FLANGE ADAPTER: Using a straight
edge, ensure the HDPE pipe end is flush with
outside of flange. AVOID DAMAGE TO
COUPLING
TEETH.
WHEN HANDLING.
4. TIGHTEN NUTS UNIFORMLY: Alternate
sides until housing bolt pads meet firmly
metal-to-metal. Alternate tightening for uni-
formity is essential to prevent gasket pinching.
Victaulic HDPE flange adapters must have nuts tight-
ened evenly and securely to bring all bolt pads firmly
together metal-to-metal.
Failure to do so could result in serious personal injury,
property damage, improper installation, joint leakage
or joint failure.
