PART C – ROUTINE USE, MAINTENANCE AND CARE

SECTION C1: LOADING THE DISINFECTANT CARTRIDGE

A trophon disinfectant cartridge needs to be inserted into the trophon EPR before a high level
disinfection cycle can commence. Refer to the trophon disinfectant IFU for detailed instructions on
how to insert and/ or replace trophon disinfectant cartridges.

SECTION C2: ROUTINE HIGH LEVEL DISINFECTION CYCLE

C2.1 Preparing the Probe

Wearing gloves, clean and dry the probe BEFORE commencing the high level disinfection process as
per the probe manufacturer's instructions.

C2.2 Inserting the Chemical Indicator

A Chemical Indicator must be used for each disinfection cycle. Each Chemical Indicator may only be
used once. Place a Chemical Indicator into the holder. Refer to the Chemical Indicator IFU. You may
then position the probe in the chamber.

C2.3 Positioning the Probe

1. When the trophon is ready, screen message Load Probe and Indicator will be displayed.
2. Open chamber door.
3. Two clamps hold the probe securely in the chamber. See Figure 9.
The probe has a short sleeve at the back of the handle, covering the electrical cable. This is the
Probe Gland. See Figure 9(a).
Wearing gloves insert the probe correctly in the trophon and ensure the probe gland is held by
the soft clamp. See Figures 9–11.
Ensure the probe is correctly positioned in the chamber. The probe must not contact the
chamber wall and must be positioned above the embossed line at the bottom of the chamber.
