8.
run the switch harness down through the
switch harness bracket and snap into bracket.
See Figure 2-17.
Figure 2-17
9.
Connect the switch harness to the motor wire.
See Figure 2-18.
Figure 2-18
10.
Connect the battery harness clips to the
battery terminals. Remove the plastic cover, if
present from the positive battery terminal and
connect the red wire to the positive terminal,
then connect the black wire to the negative
terminal. See Figure 2-19.
11.
Allow a little slack in the wire, but secure it to
the hopper frame with tie straps.
NOTE: Tie straps are not included with this kit.
Coverage Calculator
Use the chart and/or formula at the bottom of
this page to determine proper tractor speed for
spreading coverage.
NOTE: Aperture opening is approximate.
Aperture opening and tractor speed should
be adjusted as needed to achieve coverage
suggested by the material manufacturer. See
Figure 2-20.

NOTE: Conduct this test procedure on a flat
level surface.
1.
Record the desired coverage. For example:
20 lb per 2,000 sq. ft.
2.
Fill the hopper at least half full with a
premeasured amount of material. Record the
amount of material.
3.
Turn on the spreader and open the feed gate
briefly (one or two seconds). Turn off the
spreader. With a tape measurer, measure the
width of the material spread on the ground
from one side to the other, and record the
spread width (diameter).
4.
Use a stopwatch to record how long it takes all
the material measured out for this test to flow
out of the hopper.
NOTE: Turn ON the spreader when taking
this measurement. Mounding material on the
spinner may slow down material flow.
5.
Use measurements in the formula listed below
to calculate drive speed needed to accurately
fulfill your coverage and material amount
requirements.
6.
If your calculations result in a speed faster than
the mower is capable of driving, divide your
drive speed in half and use a half open gate
setting.
a.
Adjust the control handle until the
opening is about .78".
b.
Loosen, position and retighten the
.78"
wingnut on your adjustable stop so
that the control handle does not move
out of position.
