8.2 Positioning

Definition of positions: at rest (fig. 7A), loading/
unloading (fig. 7B), in operation (fig. 7C).
a) Place the Grizzly in the working position at
the lowering point and identify:
- the brace position, as defined in figure 8,
- the anchor point, as defined in figure 9.
b) clear away any possible obstacles in an
area of at least 4 metres around the Grizzly,
c) prepare the semi-static rope for the brace,
insert an adjustment device (e.g. Trimmer,
Indy Evo) and connect it to the brace point
(I) of the Grizzly.
Important: adjust the length of the rope
so that the maximum positions that can be
reached by the Grizzly during operation are
as shown (fig. 8),
d) set the anchor according to the type of use
(see point 8.3).

WARNING
Before loading the Grizzly, the operators
must be arranged in the following way:
- the most experienced person should be
equipped with a communication system in
contact with the rest of the team. He/she
should position themselves so they can
use their shoulder to support one of the
side bars (fig. 10); during the manoeuvres
of loading and unloading, they must
forcefully act on and guide the sidebar,
- the second operator, an expert on systems
of descent and recovery, must carry out
the manoeuvres with the device chosen
for the operation (read point 8.3),
- the third operator is to help or replace the
other two.
