SYNCHRONIZE HANDHELD CONTROLLER WITH RECEIVER

General Information

Before initial operation can occur, the Handheld Controller must be synchronized with the Receiver. This allows proper
communication between the two and ensures that the Handheld will only control the operation of one Receiver. Synchronization
needs to be performed when the system is first put into operation, or if it becomes desirable to synchronize the Handheld with a
different Receiver. An unsynchronized Handheld will flash both LEDs in unison when it is turned on. This will continue for
approximately 30 seconds, at which time the Handheld will power off. New Handheld Controllers are shipped unsynchronized.
Procedure For Version 5.1 Firmware
1. Make sure only the intended Receiver is powered on. If multiple Receivers are powered, the Handheld will randomly
synchronize with only one Receiver.
2. Make sure the Handheld is powered off. Starting a synchronizing procedure can only be done while powering on the Handheld.
The Handheld cannot synchronize with a Receiver once it has started its normal operation.
3. Press and hold the AUX button.
4. Press and release the POWER ON/OFF button.
5. Continue to hold the AUX button for 3 seconds.
6. If synchronization is successful, both LEDs will alternate on and off at a slow rate. After the alternating sequence begins, the AUX button
may be released and the Handheld will function as normal.
7. If synchronization fails, the ON/OFF TRANSMIT LED will flash several times and then remain on solid until the AUX button is released.
After releasing the AUX button, both LEDs will flash in unison.
8. If a Handheld has been previously synchronized to a Receiver, it can be synchronized to a different Receiver if desired. In this
case the synchronization to the previous receiver is lost when the synchronization to the new receiver is established.
Procedure For version 5.0 & Previous Made Prior to 9/2016
1. Make sure only the intended Receiver is powered on.
2. Make sure the Handheld is powered off. Starting a synchronizing procedure can only be done while powering on
the Handheld. The Handheld cannot synchronize with a Receiver once it has started its normal operation. In an attempt to
prevent unwanted synchronizing, the button presses required to initiate synchronizing have a time limit. Once the time limit has
passed, the Handheld must be powered off before a new synchronization can be started.
3. Press and hold the AUX button.
4. Press and release the POWER ON/OFF button.
5. Within 2 seconds, release, press, and release the AUX button. The LEDs will alternately turn on and off at a slow rate and
the Handheld will request a serial number from the Receiver. Up to 6 requests will be made while the Handheld listens for any Receivers in the
vicinity. The Handheld will then select the Receiver with the strongest signal. The green On/Off/Transmit LED will come on solid when
synchronization is done.
