1. Introduction to Bluetooth
technology
The Bluetooth technology makes it possible to connect compatible communication
devices without using cables. A Bluetooth connection does not require that the
phone and the headset be in line of sight, but both devices should be within 32 feet
(10 meters) of each other. Connections can be subject to interference from
obstructions, such as walls or other electronic devices.
Read this user guide carefully before using the headset. Also read the user guide for
your phone, which provides important safety and maintenance information. Keep
the headset out of reach of small children.
The Nokia Wireless Audio Adapter AD-5B enables the use of headsets that have
Bluetooth technology with Nokia phones that have a Pop-Port™ connector but do
not offer integrated Bluetooth functionality. The Wireless Clip-on Headset HS-21W
is specially designed for compatible Nokia phones that support Bluetooth
technology. The headset can, however, be used with any compatible Bluetooth
devices that support the compatible hands-free or headset profiles. A profile is a
set of Bluetooth commands that the phone uses to control the headset.
The HS-21W headset is compliant with the Bluetooth Specification 1.1 supporting
the Headset Profile 1.1 and Handsfree Profile 1.0. However, interoperability
between the HS-21W headset and other Bluetooth-enabled products is not
guaranteed. Check with the manufacturers of other devices to determine their
compatibility with this device.
Using Bluetooth features, or allowing them to run in the background while using
other features, increases the demand on battery power and reduces the battery life.
