BODY SUPPORT: A full body harness must be used with the Cabloc System. The harness must have a frontal connection suitable for
frontal fall arrest when ladder climbing. The harness connection point must be above the users center of gravity. A work positioning belt is not
authorized for use with the Cabloc system. If a fall occurs when using a body belt it may cause unintentional release and possible suffocation
because of improper body support. Substitutions of equipment or system components must not be made without the written consent of
Capital Safety.
•
CABLOC TRAvELLER: Access to the System should be gained from a position of safety. If necessary the user should use other safety
equipment, such as a twin-tailed lanyard or access platform, to facilitate safe access to the safety system. The system should always be
positioned in such a way that minimise both the potential for falls and potential fall distance. The Cabloc Traveller should only be used with the
Cabloc System. Never add additional Connectors or Lanyards that may increase the fall distance.
INSTALLATION: Page 1 illustrates two typical system installations. Lives are at risk if the System is not installed correctly.
•
Ensure you have access to all the tools and information required to successfully install the product. Plan your installation to
minimize the amount of time working at height and improve safety.
•
COMPONENTS: Page 1 and the subsequent parts tables illustrate the available components that are used to construct the
Cabloc System. Components used will vary with the specific application.
FASTENER TORqUE REqUIREMENTS: When installing the Cabloc System, fasteners on the various components should be
•
tightened to the torque values indicated in their respective parts table.
WarnIng: Use extreme caution when installing the Cabloc System. Wear personal protective equipment including safety glasses
and steel-toed shoes. Always utilize a Fall Arrest System comprising of a Full Body Harness and Self-Retracting Lifeline (SRL) or
Energy Absorbing Lanyard when working at height. The Fall Arrest System should be connected to appropriate anchorage. DO NOT
connect the Fall Arrest System to the partially installed Cabloc System. Use caution when working near electrical power lines, The
Cabloc System is conductive.
Page 1 illustrates the Cabloc vertical system components installed. While components vary, installation procedures for installing the
Cabloc system are similar for all applications. When installing the Cabloc System, it is recommended that the system be installed on the
structure starting from the top end of the structure. Basic steps for installing the Cabloc System are as follows:
Step 1.
Position and mount Top Anchor (TA): Install the top anchor on the ladder.
Step 2.
Attach the cable: Loop the thimble cable termination through the shackle and attach it to the top anchor as shown
using the included shackle pin. Note: if using intermediate brackets (6191002/ 61910), it is advisable to slide them onto
the cable and hold them in place with a cable/rope grab before attaching the top of the cable to the top anchor. This
will allow you to affix them to the ladder when climbing down.
Step 3.
Attach the intermediates (CG/IB): Install the cable guide or brackets onto the ladder rung.
Step 4.
Install the bottom anchor (BA): Install the bottom anchor on the system. Insert the bottom attachment ring into the
bottom anchor, assemble thimble onto ring and loop the cable through. Then attach the cable clamps to hold the cable
in place. Tighten the nut until the groove pulls through indicating tension has been reached. Add cable cover to finish
the installation.
Step 5.
(Optional) Hex Swage Stud: If using a stud at the bottom of the system, hex swage the stud and insert it into the
bottom anchor (contact Capital Safety for hex swaging tools and specification). Tighten the nut using 12mm and 19mm
spanners until the groove pulls through indicating tension has been reached. Add cable cover to finish the installation.
Step 6.
(Optional) Install Universal Anchor: The universal bracket can be installed at both top and bottom of the system.
Attach the tensioner as shown and loop the cable through. Then attach the cable clamps to hold the cable in place.
Turn the turnbuckle to tighten the cable until the tension indicator can turn freely, indicating tension has been reached.
Add cable cover to finish the installation.
