Connecting External Devices
Although Sprite Lite can be used as a standalone multiplexer, its flexibility allows additional
accessories to be connected.
Sprite Lite uses Dedicated Micros c-bus networking to interconnect Dedicated Micros products
and accessories. Devices that can be connected to Sprite Lite include:
Alarms
Auxiliary relays and inputs
Remote keypads
Connecting alarms
9 and 16 channel version
An optional alarm module is required if alarms are to be added to a 9 or 16 channel Sprite
Lite. The advantage of using alarm modules is that all the alarm connectors do not have to
be routed back to the Sprite Lite. Multiple alarm modules can be used on the c-bus
network with alarms connected to each module.
To add alarms:
• Connect the corresponding alarm contact to the alarm input, i.e. Alarm 2 would be
connected between ground (GND) and A2.
• If multiple alarm modules are required then each will need to be addressed; consult the
alarm module documentation for details.
• Connect the c-bus cable from the alarm box to one of the c-bus sockets on Sprite Lite.
• The polarity of the alarms (normally open/closed) is set in the 'Camera setup'
menu page.
4 channel version
The 4 channel Sprite Lite has a built-in alarm connector labelled 'ALARM' on the rear of
the unit. The alarm inputs must be zero volt contacts, normally open or normally closed.
• Connect the alarms to the two-part connector as follows:
Pin No.
Connection

Alarm input 1
2
Alarm input 2
3

• The polarities of the alarms (normally open/closed) are set in the 'Camera setup'
menu page.
An alarm trigger performs the following:
Action
Close relay 1
Display the alarm camera on screen
Change the record rate (if relay 1 is connected to a VCR)
Interleave the alarm cameras
