Cleaning and care
Cleaning
Switch off and unplug the appliance before cleaning or maintenance.
Do not clean the appliance with steel wool, strong chemicals, alkali,
abrasive or toxic agents, as they may damage the surface of the
appliance and pose a health hazard.
During cleaning, do not approach sharp elements (evaporator,
condenser, etc.) that could cause cutting injuries bare-handed. Always
use protective gloves.
Use little or no water during cleaning.
The interior of the appliance should be cleaned at least once a month.
To clean the interior, start a defrost process (
the process is finished, switch off the appliance and clean it with an
antibacterial cleaning agent and a soft cloth. Wipe with a soft dry cloth.
Clean the shelves with a soft damp cloth. Wipe with a soft dry cloth.
Have the dust filter of the condenser be pulled out from the gap of top
protective grill, and cleaned frequently (applicable to GFR1400).
Have the condenser cleaned approx. every four months by a qualified
professional. For this, the protective grill on top of the appliance must be
removed. Dust accumulated on the surface of the condenser can then be
removed with a brush and a vacuum cleaner. Afterwards, the protective
grill can be reattached.
The appliance may only be used again or stored after it is dried
completely.
Defrosting
The appliance will defrost itself automatically every 6 hours, or 4 times in
24 hours.
When the defrosting is finished, the appliance will enter into dripping
phase.
After the complete defrost process is finished, the defrost timer will reset
and start counting to 6 hours again.
Notes:
During the defrost process, the appliance will slightly lower the
temperature inside the cooling/freezing compartment, so that the
developed ice can melt. This process is not harmful to the products
stored in the appliance and will generally only take a few minutes. In
cases of severe frost, the process may take a maximum of 30 minutes.
The disposal of defrost water is automatic. The water will drip down from
the defrost water outlet into the water collection container at the back of
the appliance and evaporate there.
By starting a manual defrosting process, the frequency of defrosting will
not change, only the starting time of the 24-hour defrost cycle. The time
between each following automatic defrost process will always be 6 hours.
