Before Use

Carefully unpack and inspect your soldering kit. Fully familiarise yourself
with all features and functions of the tools.
If any parts are damaged or missing, have these parts repaired or replaced
before use.
Note: The soldering iron tip may emit smoke for a short while on first use.
This is normal and is the protective coating burning off the element. It is
advisable to do this in a well-ventilated area before regular use.
Operating Instructions
• Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment when soldering
Soldering iron
• The soldering iron is ideal for light electrical work, such as joining wires
and mounting components to printed circuit boards
• Before switching on, check that the Soldering Tip (1) is securely fitted.
The soldering tip should be pushed into the Heating Element (2) and
secured by tightening the Locking Screw (4)
• Do not allow the heating element or soldering tip to rest on any surface
that may be damaged by heat
1. To operate, connect to the mains power supply and allow the soldering
iron to reach operating temperature
2. Hold the Soldering Tip (1) against the wire or component to be
soldered. Once hot, add solder to the joint then remove the soldering
iron
Soldering gun
• The soldering gun is ideal for joining larger cables and working with
sheet metal
• Before switching on, check that the Soldering Tip (5) is securely fitted.
The soldering tip should be pushed into the Heating Element (7) and
secured by tightening the Locking Screws (6)
• Do not allow the heating element or soldering tip to rest on any surface
that may be damaged by heat
1. To operate, connect to the mains power supply and press the Trigger
Switch (9). The Work Light (10) will illuminate, showing that the
heating element is powered. Holding the switch for 6-8 seconds will
allow the tip to reach full operating temperature
6
2. Hold the Soldering Tip (5) against the cable or component to be
soldered. Once hot, add solder to the joint then remove the soldering
gun
NOTE: The duration of the electrical current (operated by the switch)
controls the soldering temperature. To maintain a constant temperature,
apply current in short bursts of no more than 12 seconds
Solder sucker
• The solder sucker is used to remove unwanted molten solder
1. Press the Plunger (11) fully until it locks in position (a click will be
heard)
2. Use the soldering iron, or soldering gun, to melt the unwanted solder
3. Hold the solder sucker tip near to the molten solder
4. Press the Release Button (12). The Plunger will spring back to draw
the solder into the sucker
NOTE: The solder sucker will periodically need to be emptied. Unscrew the
nose of the solder sucker and tip out waste solder. Take care to retain the
internal return spring. Reassemble and tighten before use
Maintenance
Tip replacement
WARNING: Always disconnect tools from the power supply and allow to
cool fully before attempting to adjust or replace any part.
1. Slacken the Locking Screws (4 & 6) and withdraw the Soldering Tip
(1 & 5)
2. Push the replacement soldering tip into the Heating Element (2 & 7)
and retighten the Locking Screws (4 & 6)
Cleaning
• Disconnect from the mains supply before cleaning
• Always clean dust and particles away, and never allow ventilation holes
to become blocked. Do not allow waste to collect on any part of the tool.
Use a soft brush, or dry cloth to clean the machine; if available blow
through the ventilation holes with clean, dry, compressed air
Disposal
• Do not dispose of power tools, or other waste electrical and electronic
equipment (WEEE), with household waste
• Contact your local waste disposal authority for information on the proper
way to dispose of power tools
