4.
In sailboat operations, ensure the sump box is located close to the centre line and parallel with the bow-to-stern
line.
5.
Before installation, ensure there is enough overhead clearance to access the box for maintenance, ensure the
best angles for the hose (to prevent kinking) and ensure the lid tab is accessible.
Mounting Instructions
1.
To open lid, release the tab on the box and lift upwards. To replace, ensure the tab is fully pressed down to
ensure a watertight seal.
Pilot Holes
2.
Decide which opening size is needed and saw off the end - leaving all other unused inlet ports intact. File around
the outside and inside of the fitting to remove rough edges. (Figure 1)
NOTE Choose the outlet size as large as possible for optimum performance
3.
Place the sump box in final position. Mark narrow end of each keyhole screw slot locations, remove box and
carefully drill 6 x 3mm (⅛") pilot holes. (Figure 1)
NOTE Do not drill through hull, ensure that pump is mounted to additional board or bulkhead.
4.
Replace box and fasten with six #8 stainless steel fasteners.
5.
Connect 19mm (¾") or 25mm (1") I.D. hose from outlet fitting to the thru-hull connector. Secure each
connection with hose clamp.
NOTE Ensure tight connections, but do not over-tighten screws / hose clips
NOTE - This pump must not be mounted below the water line when connected to an intake or outlet unless the system
has a vented loop
6.
Connect inlet hose from drains to the inlet fittings. Secure each connection with a hose clamp
7.
Connect 6mm (¼") I.D. tubing from the air vent to the bilge to allow for overflow.
Plumbing
IMPORTANT: To prevent airlock, hose must rise continually upward
to the thru-hull connector with no dips or sharp bends (Figure 2). Hose
support clips must be used to secure the pipework.
•
Orientate the tank outlet for a direct path to the hull
connector ensuring an unobstructed hose path.
•
Secure all connections with hose clamps.
•
If no thru-hull connector exists, install at 25mm (12") minimum
height above water line. Apply marine sealant around thru-hull
flanges on interior and exterior of the hull.
Electrical Wiring
NOTE Switch off the power prior to making connections. Suggested wiring information is given as a guide only. For full
information, refer to the USCG, ABYC and ISO regulations for marine applications and wiring gauges, connectors and
fuse protection.
Ensure all wire connections are at the highest level above water. Use marine grade wire connectors only and 16 AWG
tinned copper wire. Waterproof all connections with suitable materials.
Warning - Do not cut wires as this will damage the connections and invalidate the warranty.
WARNING: POLARITY SENSITIVE Reversed wiring will cause switch and pump failure.
WARNING: Fire hazard. Wiring must comply with applicable electrical standards and include a properly rated fuse or
circuit breaker. Improper wiring can cause a fire resulting in injury or death.
