Description of Front

Operation
Preliminary checks
milliohmmeter
1 - measurement terminals:
current circuit inputs (C1 and C2) & potential circuit inputs (P1 and P2)
2 - 6-position rotary switch for selecting the measurement range
OFF: instrument off
200.0 mΩ: measurement up to 200 mΩ - measurement current 100 mA
2,000 mΩ: measurement up to 2,000 mΩ - measurement current 100 mA
20.00 Ω: measurement up to 20 Ω - measurement current 10 mA
200.0 Ω: measurement up to 200 Ω - measurement current 10 mA
2,000 Ω: measurement up to 2,000 Ω - measurement current 1 mA
3 - LCD display unit 3 ½ digits with a wide range of indicator symbols
4 - signal LEDs
NO TEST: no current injection (measurement not started or instrument
overheated)
R potential circuit: the resistance of the potential circuit is too high (open
circuit or measurement range too small)
R current circuit: the resistance of the current circuit is too high (open circuit
or measurement range too high)
Before carrying out measurements, carefully read the operating & safety
instructions.
Check the battery power level
if, when the TEST-ON button is pressed, the battery symbol lights on the display
unit, replace the power supply batteries (cf. §. Battery replacement)
Check the measurement leads
1 – check the general condition of the cable: cuts, burns, etc.
2 – connect the leads to the current circuit inputs, C1 and C2
3 – select a range and short-circuit the leads: the R
off, proving that the current circuit is established
4 – then connect the leads to the potential circuit inputs, P1 and P2
5 – short-circuit the leads: the display unit must indicate 0000
6 – then connect the 4 leads to inputs C1, C2, P1, and P2
7 – short-circuit P1 with C1 and P2 with C2: the R
indicating an overvoltage or a result outside the range.
This check can be performed for each of the measurement ranges.
Check the polarity indication
1 – connect the 4 leads to inputs C1, C2, P1, and P2
2 – short-circuit P1 with C2 and P2 with C1: the LED R
indicating an overvoltage or a result outside the range. The symbol "–" must also
be lit on the display unit.
Check the overall operating condition
1 – connect the 4 leads to inputs C1, C2, P1, and P2
2 – short-circuit the 4 leads together: the display unit must indicate 0000 and the R
and R
