Universal Radio Remover & Antenna Wrench Set
Usage Instructions
CAUTION: Modern car radios and stereos require entry of a special security code to restore their function if power to the radio has been
interrupted.
Make sure that this code is available before removing any radio or antenna from a vehicle, or if disconnecting power to the radio, including
disconnecting the vehicle's battery. Check to ensure that the vehicle's owner's manual or other records contain the radio reset code and reset
instructions. Proceed at your own risk when attempting radio or antenna servicing.
Antenna Nut Removal
NOTE: Procedures for removal and installation of the antenna vary from vehicle to vehicle. Consult factory servicing information for complete
procedures for antenna replacement and follow all factory safety precautions to prevent personal injury.
1. Select antenna nut socket that fits the style of antenna retaining nut that must be removed. Ensure the male tips of the antenna nut socket fit into
the slots in the antenna retaining nut. See figures a and b.
2. Select an end wrench or ratchet that will engage and turn the antenna nut socket. Turn the antenna nut until it can be removed from the threads
on the antenna mast. See figures c and d.
Car Stereo Removal - Using "U" Hooks (Ford Taurus Illustrated, Others Similar)
1. Note the small holes in the face of the radio. There should be two sets of holes as shown. See figure e.
2. Insert the "U" hooks into the holes and press in firmly until they reach bottom. A "click" may be heard when the hooks are at bottom. Grasp the
set of hooks with both hands and wriggle the radio slightly. See figure f.
3. Using the hooks as handles, pull the radio straight out from the dash. If necessary, push the hooks outward slightly (away from each other) while
pulling outward on the hooks as handles. This serves to release the locking tabs so that the radio may be removed from the dash. See figure g.
