Car Stereo Removal - Using Special Keys (VW Jetta Illustrated, Others Similar)
1. Note the small slots in the face of the radio to be removed. There should be a slot one each side as shown. See figure i.
2. Select the special key that is appropriate for the vehicle's radio. See figure j. Insert the key into the slot until it reaches bottom. A "click" may
sometimes be heard when the key reaches bottom. Grasp the set of keys with both hands and pull the radio out of the dash panel. See figure k
and l.
3. To remove the keys from the radio, press in on retaining tabs on the side of the radio chassis while pulling out on the keys (if necessary). See
figure m.
Car Stereo Removal - Using BMW Pentagon Tool or 2mm Hexagonal Wrench (325 Series Illustrated, Others Similar)
1. Note the small hinged covers in the face of the radio to be removed. There should be a covers on each side as shown. Pry open the cover with
a fingernail or small screwdriver. See figure n.
2. Insert the special pentagon bit tool (or hex wrench, if appropriate) into the radio retaining screw located inside the cover. Turn the bit a few
turns counterclockwise on one side, then switch to the other side screw. See figure o. Keep turning the screws a few turns at a time until the
radio screws disengage completely and the radio moves freely. Grasp the radio with both hands and pull straight out of the dash. See figure p.
