Installation Time: Approximately 30 minutes
Important: Read through entire instructions before beginning any installations.
1. Install Ceiling Brackets
Before beginning the unit installation, decide where it will work best for you above the open garage
door (if room allows) or beyond the open door.
PLEASE NOTE: If installing above the open garage door: at least 27"of open space is required
between the highest point of the door as measured during it's upward travel and the ceiling.
Locate the ceiling joists in the area of desired installation and determine the direction in which they
are running. In order to adequately disperse the stored load, you should install not more than two
HyLoft units on any two ceiling joists. The Ceiling Brackets are installed parallel to the ceiling joists.
Refer to the diagram below or photos on the package for additional installation clarification.

IMPORTANT: Do not over-tighten the Lag Screws (max 10 ft. lbs.).
They only need to be fully seated, no more. Do not use an impact driver.
1A:
Hold a Ceiling Bracket (A) against the ceiling in the location you chose, making sure that the
holes in the bracket are parallel with the center of the joist. Use the two holes in the Ceiling
Brackets (A) as a template to mark the joist with your pencil. PRE-DRILL two 3/16" holes where
you marked your joist.
1B:
Rub some bar soap or add a drop of liquid soap to the threads of the Lag Screws (B) to ease
installation. Using a 1/2" socket wrench or nut driver, install (2) 5/16" x 2-1/2" Lag Screws (E)
through the two holes in the Ceiling Bracket (A) to secure it into the joist.
1C:
From the outside edge of the Ceiling Bracket (A) you just installed, measure 44-1/2" (along same
ceiling joist) and mark the ceiling with your pencil. This is the outside edge of the opposite
Ceiling Bracket (A). Repeat steps 1A and 1B for the installation of this second bracket.
1D:
Now repeat steps 1A, 1B, and 1C to install the remaining set of Ceiling Brackets (A), which should
be installed parallel to the first set just installed.
