VTSSC45 – TEMPERATURE-CONTROLLED SOLDERING STATION
1. Introduction
Thank you for buying the VTSSC45 ! Thanks to its favourable price-quality ratio, this device is
ideal for beginners and professionals alike. Please read the manual before bringing the device
into use.
2. Features
1. Insulated ceramic heater
2. The device is equipped with an electronic, temperature-controlled analogue scale. The
operating temperature can vary from 200 to 500°C.
3. The insulation resistance is > 100Mohms at 400°C, while the leakage current is less than
0.4µA. The soldering iron is connected to ground.
4. The zero voltage switching circuit ensures low noise and greater protection for the
components.
5. The soldering station is equipped with a temperature control lock to prevent unwanted
temperature adjustments.
6. Simply remove the barrel and the nut in order to replace the tip. Several types can be mounted.
3. Operating Instructions
• Verify whether the operating voltage of the unit is compatible with the mains voltage prior to
plugging in this device.
• Make sure that the device was not damaged in transit.
• Use the rotary control on the front panel to install the desired temperature.
4. Common Causes for Tip Failure
1. The tip is not sufficiently tinned.
2. Wiping the tip on a surface with a high sulphur content or on a dirty or dry sponge or rag.
3. Contact between the tip and organic or chemical substances such as plastic, silicone,
grease, etc.
4. Impurities in the solder and/or solder with a low tin content.
Note : the heating element may be damaged when its temperature reaches 510°C (950°F).
5. Important Remarks
Remove and clean the tip after heavy or moderate use. We recommend cleaning the tip every
day if the device is used on a daily basis. Clear the tip assembly from excess solder.
The supplied soldering tip is made of iron-clad copper and will retain its projected life span if
used properly.
a. Always tin the tip before returning it to the holder, prior to deactivating the station or in case
of long periods of inactivity. Clean the tip with a wet sponge or with our tip cleaner (ref.
VTSTC) prior to use.
b. Do not use temperatures in excess of 400°C (750°F) as this will shorten the life of your tip.
c. Do not exercise mechanic pressure on the tip or rub the joint with the tip while soldering. This
does not improve the heat transfer and may cause damage to the tip.
d. Never clean the tip with a file or other abrasive materials.
6. Tips for New Tips
1. Place the temperature control in the min. position and the main power switch in the "ON" position.
2. Install a temperature of 250°C (482°F).
3. Coat the tinned surface with solder when the temperature of the tip has reached 250°C (482°F).
