dry, clean, heat-resistant counter

Add coarsely ground coffee
to the bottom of the carafe
(1 Tablespoon coarsely ground
coffee for every 4 ounces
[1/2 cup] of water).
Hold handle with one hand. Turn
lid so that the strainer in the lid
does not overlap the pour spout
of the carafe to seal spout. Face
spout away from you. Place other
hand on the top of the coffee
press and slowly press down
towards the bottom.
WARNING! Burn Hazard: Failure
to follow these directions may
cause hot coffee to squirt out
from spout or around lid during
pressing.
NOTE: French-pressed coffee retains the natural oils of the coffee
that would be absorbed by the paper filter.
3
Pour hot water (195°–205°F
[91°–96°C]) into carafe. Quickly
stir mixture with a long-handled
wooden spoon or a heat-proof
plastic spatula.

Place coffee press onto the carafe;
let stand 4 minutes for coffee to
steep. Do not press down.
Turn lid to align strainer in lid with
spout of carafe to allow coffee to
pour.
