6. Disconnect the black jumper cable, first from the
unpainted surface of the heater trailer engine, then from
the negative (-) terminal of the booster vehicle battery.
7. Disconnect the red jumper cable, first from the positive
(+) terminal of the heater trailer battery, then from the
positive (+) terminal of the booster vehicle.
Automatic Engine Shutdown
The engine will shut down automatically if there is:
• Low oil pressure, or
• High coolant temperature
If automatic engine shutdown occurs, repair the problem
before you continue operation.
Engine Air Intake Shut-Off Valve
If flammable gas or vapor is detected at the air intake, the
valve shuts off intake air to prevent an overspeed condition.
This shuts down the engine.
To test:
1. Start the engine.
2. Find the red covered switch at the back of the engine
control panel. Lift the cover and move the switch to the
UP position. The engine should shut down immediately.
3. If the engine shuts down, close the red cover.
4. If the engine does not shut down, shut the machine down
and do not use. Close the red cover. Hang a 'Do Not
Operate' tag on the machine, and have the machine
repaired.
To reset:
WARNING
If the engine air intake shut-off valve has shut the engine
down, leave the area immediately and obey the safety
procedures for your jobsite. Do not reset or start the
machine until the source of the problem has been identified
and a solution has been found.
1. Find the blue knob on the air intake shut-off valve.
2. Turn the knob to line up with the intake hoses to and from
the valve body. You will hear a 'click' when the valve has
been reset.
Operate the Heater Units
The heater trailer has two electronically controlled indirect
fired heater units. One or both heater units can be used.
The heater units are controlled by an electronic control
module (A, Figure 18). This module:
• controls the burner and the heated air temperature.
• senses barometric pressure and ambient temperature.
• shows the correct damper setting to maintain proper air /
fuel mixture for the burner.

Note: A digital copy of the heater unit manual is stored in the
electronic control module.
Start the Heater Unit
1. Start the engine to supply power to the heater unit.
2. Open the heater outlet doors. See Prepare to Operate
the Heater Trailer.
3. Remove the air inlet covers. See Prepare to Operate the
Heater Trailer.
4. Install ducting. See Install the Ducting.
5. Open the heater unit access doors.
6. Make sure that no fuel has collected in the combustion
chamber. See Remove Collected Fuel in Maintenance.
7. Adjust the damper:
• Do a check of the heater unit display for the correct
damper setting.
• Loosen the wing nut (A, Figure 19) on the right side
of the damper.
• Move the pointer (B, Figure 19) to the setting (C)
shown on the heater unit display.
• Tighten the wing nut.
