Water Characteristics
Pre-filtration should be used before the Klaran WS that can assure inlet
water is of suitable quality to meet required specifications. The Klaran WS
should always be used with water at atmospheric or positive pressure.
Application of negative pressure at the inlet or outlet of the Klaran WS
from systems like downstream pumps or boosters may cause permanent
damage to the Klaran WS unit. Operating without pre-filtration or at
negative pressure may lead to a reduction of disinfection performance or
damage to the Klaran WS unit. The following levels of inlet water quality
are recommended for installation:
Iron
< 0.3 ppm (0.3 mg/L)
Hardness*
< 7 gpg (120 mg/L)
Turbidity
< 1 NTU
Manganese
< 0.05 ppm (0.05 mg/L)
Tannins
< 0.1 ppm (0.1 mg/L)
UV Transmittance
> 95%
If your water quality contains levels in excess of those mentioned above,
proper pre-treatment is recommended to correct these water problems
prior to the installation of your UVC LED water treatment system.
Installation Procedure

The Klaran WS must be oriented in one of two positions to operate
as intended. Mounting the unit in an orientation other than the two
orientations shown below will result in reduced performance and
permanent damage to the unit.

Securely mount the Klaran WS unit with the provided filter
clip, using either the provided self-drilling screw or a fastener
appropriate for the mounting location and material.

Connect ¼" push to connect tubing into the water inlet and outlet
of the Klaran WS unit. Tubing should be pressed completely into the
fittings. Assure that appropriate pre-filtration is used before the
Klaran WS unit to provide minimum inlet water quality parameters.
