Remote Mount EM Battery Pack Installation Instructions – Benchmark High Bay
GENERAL NOTES
The damp location EBP is not in a watertight enclosure and
is connected to the fixture via MC flexible conduit. Once a
damp location EBP is coupled to the Benchmark High Bay,
the entire fixture, except the optics, becomes a damp location
fixture.
Operating ambient temperature for the EBP is 0°C to 50°C.
Maximum distance between the EBP and fixture is 15 feet.
Remote Mount EM Installation
The EBP comes pre-wired to the fixture via a 3ft MC conduit
(Figure 1). The EM test button & indicator light is remote
located via a separate MC conduit and enclosed in a
standard switch box (supplied by others). Once the fixture
has been installed, locate and secure the battery pack to a
supporting structure near the fixture. Attach a standard KO
switch box on the end of the test button conduit. Position the
test button/indicator switch box in a location that is visible
and accessible. Once secured, install the switch cover with
the test button installed in the center hole.
Connect the external ground wire to the EM unit mounting
structure.

Figure 2.
Open one driver door as shown in the Benchmark Installation
Instruction sheet, Figure 3 to access the fixture.
Depending on the fixture configuration, there will be a 3-port
quick disconnect and possibly a 2-port disconnect. The
3-port supplies power to the EBP and one driver. The second
2-port disconnect will supply power to the second driver, if
equipped.
Connect the supply wires to the 3-port disconnect as shown
in Figure 2. The unswitched leg should be matched to the
load side port with the wire labeled "Power to Emergency
Battery Pack". Connect the switched leg to the other port
matching wire color. Connect the white neutral to the
matching port.
Switched

If a 2-port QD is present (Figure 3), connect a switched
supply and neutral wire tap to the corresponding ports.
Prior to closing the driver access door, connect the converter
wire located in the fixture housing to activate the EM unit.
Push the test button to test the EM unit. For single driver EM
units, all 4 optics will illuminate. On dual driver units only 2
optics will illuminate. Be aware that the battery is not fully
charged and may not operate long. EBP's require a minimum
of 8 hours to fully charge.
