INTRODUCTION
Inspiring the joy of listening
Technical Audio Devices Laboratories, Inc. (TADL) grew from the spirit to discover technologies to perfectly recreate the pure
sound of live performances with uncompromising craftsmanship. We have inherited our philosophy from Bart Locanthi—
recognized across the globe as the ultimate sound technologist—who believed that genuine technology is true to the basics
and that genuine technology places greater importance on sound quality than on technology for its own sake.
At TADL, we are honing our technology to create equipment that reproduces musical sounds that evoke both the energy and
impact of live music.
Features
The TAD-C2000 is a preamplifier featuring the newest in technology for a new age, complete with three digital
inputs and four analog inputs.
1.
High-fidelity DAC with Ultra-high-Precision Crystal Generator (UPCG)
The master clock features an UPCG
uses dual Burr-Brown PCM1794A digital-audio converters in a parallel balanced output, thereby producing both high fidelity
and high S/N ratio. A sampling rate converter is also featured; by reclocking with the ultra-high C/N master clock UPCG, the
D/A converter supports sampling frequencies from 32 kHz to 192 kHz, providing the ultimate in reproduction of input PCM
signals.

2.
Asynchronous USB audio data transmission
Of the three digital inputs, one is designed for USB input (USB 2.0 high-speed) that supports USB Audio Class 2.0 for USB
audio data transmission. This makes it possible to use widely distributed music player software to listen to high-fidelity audio
sources with data rates up to 192 kHz
This unit features an asynchronous USB audio data transmission engine uniquely developed by Pioneer to control the
transmission of input audio data. By reading the incoming data with the internal high-precision clock, a very high level of
audio quality is achieved.

3.
The Quest for Symmetry: Duallogic-Circuit Technology
In order to most accurately transmit audio signals, it is critical that the circuitry be complete symmetrical in relation to the
polarity of the music signal. The unit's analog circuitry utilizes full-balanced amplifying from input to output, while the L/
R audio circuits feature a symmetric layout of dual circuit board units, in these and other ways seeking for the utmost in
symmetry of circuit layout and L/R identity.
4.
Damping Technology
Machined from an enormous block of solid aluminum, the silver upper case acts as the chassis that houses the electronic
parts determining sound quality. The massive, seamless chassis not only strongly resists external vibrations, but its
electrically stable ground potential facilitates achieving even greater stability in sound quality. Finally, the three-point
suspension insulators utilize gray cast iron with its excellent damping characteristics, and each insulator contacts the lower
case with a point-contact structure that further contributes to stable sound reproduction.
5.
Custom electronic parts contribute to high-precision operation and high sound quality
The shaft bearings found in the INPUT SELECTOR and VOLUME dial feature a newly developed structure utilizing high-
precision bearings, entirely eliminating any sense of looseness, and enabling high-precision operation. The high-precision
volume circuitry enlists a newly developed high-precision resistance-ladder control, delivering low distortion (0.0005% or less
in the volume circuitry), and high-precision volume control (1/0.5 step select). Further, by designing the INPUT SELECTOR
and VOLUME dial as independent right-left controls, stable auditory lateralization and ambience is realized, while the full-
balanced volume circuitry preserves signal symmetry at any volume setting, making possible vibrant music reproduction
even at low sound volumes.
