B/W Wireless Camera

1 Applications
The wireless black-and-white camera AV-600CMOS
with microphone and six infrared LEDs transmits in
the 2.4 GHz range and, in combination with the
monitor AV-600BS from MONACOR, it is used for
wireless video surveillance. If no audio transmission
is required, the following units from MONACOR can
also be used as a monitor or receiver for a transmis-
sion on channels 1 to 3:
AV-3000BSDX (monitor with receiver part)
AV-3010RDX, AV-3030R, AV-3050R (receivers),
AVM-100R, AVM-250R (receiving modules)
The transmission range largely depends on the local
conditions. Without any obstacles between camera
and receiver, the maximum range is 300 m. How-
ever, in buildings it is reduced to approx. 30 m by
walls and ceilings depending on their condition.
1.1 Approval
According to the R+TTE directive (Radio and Tele-
communication Technical Equipment), the approval
for the camera is valid in the countries of the Euro-
pean Union (for the approval number refer to the
specifications). For operation in countries outside
the EU, please contact your retailer or the
MONACOR subsidiary in the country where this unit
will be operated.
In the Federal Republic of Germany the frequen-
cy 2.4 GHz is allowed for the operation of wireless
surveillance systems. As this frequency may not be
available for this application in other countries of the
EU, please inform yourself at your retailer or the cor-
responding authority of the country before operating
the unit outside Germany.
2 Safety Notes
The units (camera and power supply unit) corre-
spond to the directive 89/336/EEC for electro-
magnetic compatibility. The power supply unit addi-
tionally corresponds to the low voltage directive
73/23/EEC.
Attention! The power supply unit is supplied with
hazardous mains voltage (230 V~). Leave servicing
to skilled personnel only. Inexpert handling may
cause an electric shock hazard.
The units are suitable for indoor use only. Protect
them against dripping water and splash water,
high air humidity, and extreme temperatures
(admissible ambient temperature range -10 °C to
+55 °C).
Do not set the camera into operation, and imme-
diately disconnect the power supply unit from the
mains socket if
1. there is visible damage to the camera or to the
power supply unit,
2. a defect might have occurred after a drop or
similar accident,
3. malfunctions occur.
The units must in any case be repaired by skilled
personnel.
For cleaning the housing only use a dry, soft cloth,
by no means chemicals or water. Do not touch the
lens with your fingers and use for its cleaning only
detergents especially for optical lenses.
No guarantee claims for the units and no liability
for any resulting personal damage or material
damage will be accepted if the units are used for

other purposes than originally intended, if they are
not correctly connected or operated, or not re-
paired in an expert way.
If the units are to be put out of operation
definitively, take them to a local recycling
plant for a disposal which is not harmful to
the environment.
Do not put exhausted batteries into the
household rubbish but take them to a spe-
cial waste disposal (e. g. collective con-
tainer at your electrical supply shop).
3 Setting into Operation
3.1 Placing the camera and the receiver
Practical experience has shown that an optimum
reception is achieved when placing the units at a
height of minimum 1.5 to 2 m above the ground. Prior
to the final mounting, a trial run is recommended
as the transmission quality can substantially be
changed by displacing the camera and the receiver
by a few centimetres only.
3.2 Mounting
1) Mount the supplied support [or another support
with 6.3 mm (
2) Tightly screw the camera via the threaded jack (1)
or (7) to the support and coarsely adjust it.

3.3 Power supply

1. For using the supplied power supply unit, connect
its low-voltage plug to the jack DC 6V IN (3) and
the power supply unit to a mains socket
(230 V~/50 Hz). If batteries are used, these will
be switched off.
If another 6 V power supply unit is used, ob-
serve in any case that the positive pole is at the
inside contact of the low-voltage plug. A plug of
the dimensions 5.5/2.1 mm (outside/inside diam-
eter) is required.
2. For the power supply independent of the mains
insert four 1.5 V batteries of size AA, as shown in
the battery compartment. For this purpose, re-
move the cover of the battery compartment on the
lower side of the unit.
If not used for a longer period (e. g. more than
a week), the batteries should be removed. Thus,
the unit will not be damaged in case the batteries
should leak.
3.4 Adjustments at the camera
1) Switch on the camera with the sliding switch (10).
The power and channel LED CH (8) shows green.
If it shows red in the meantime, the batteries are
exhausted and have to be replaced.
2) After switching-on, the camera always transmits
on channel 1. If required, switch to another chan-
nel with the button SELECT (9). The selected
channel is indicated by flashing of the LED CH:

4 x short flashing = channel 4
If two wireless cameras are used, at least one chan-
nel must remain free between the two transmitting
channels, because two adjacent channels interfere
with each other. The following combination is recom-
mended:
channels 1 and 4 or
channels 1 and 3 or
channels 2 and 4
3) Switch on the monitor and adjust the receiver part
to the same channel as the camera.
4) Remove the protective cover of the lens and pre-
cisely adjust the camera to the surveillance
range. Adjust a clear picture on the monitor by
turning the lens (4).
5) After operation, switch off the camera with the
sliding switch OFF/ON. If the surveillance system
is not used for a longer period, disconnect the
power supply unit from the mains socket. Other-
wise the power supply unit will consume a low
current although the camera is switched off.
