6.4 Changing mV to pH
pH-2003 allows measure on mV or pH.
On starting (On/Off), measure is in mV.
Press «Mode» and select «MEAS» to measure pH.
Measure in mV could be used to measure with an ion selective electrode.
6.5 Measure temperature
pH-2003 does not measures temperature. But it calculates a temperature compensa-
tion according to a temperature value entered from keypad.
In other words you can measure the sample temperature by a thermometer and
then enter it on the pH-2003.
To enter temperature:
• Select «ºC» by pressing on «Mode» (ºC units blink on the display).
• Use keys «Up» or «Down» to select temperature.
• Validate with «ENTER»
Note: If the temperature set it quite different from the real temperature on sample,
the pH measured could have an error.
6.6 Calibrating pH-2003
El pH-2003 must be calibrated on 2 points.
Choose this two points by considering:
• One point is always pH=6.98
• If you are going to measure an acid solution, choose pH=4.00
• If you are going to measure an alkali solution, choose pH=9.18
Calibrating pH-2003:
• Select «STD1» by pressing «Mode»
• Immerse the electrode cap on the pH=6.98 buffer.
• Wait until the mV reading is stable.
• Press «ENTER»
• Clean and rinse the electrode cap with clean water.
• Select «STD2» by pressing «Mode»
• Immerse the electrode cap on the pH=4.00 or 9.18 buffer.
• Wait until the mV reading is stabilized.
• Press «ENTER»
• Clean and rinse the electrode cap with clean water.
pH-meter is calibrated.
Note: Usually a pH-meter must be calibrated:
• First time use
• Daily.
• After changing the electrode
• After measuring strong acids (pH<2)
• After measuring strong alkalis (pH>12)
• After measuring very dense solutions that can obstruct the membrane.
