Connection to the electrical mains
After making sure the main switch (Fig. 4 D) is off:
Version 400 V - 50 Hz
- connect the turbine power supply cable (Fig. 4 A) to a switch box with a differential
thermomagnetic circuit breaker (HE1101: 20 Amp. - HE1501: 32 Amp.) equipped with a
power light (Fig. 4 C).
Version 230 V - 60 Hz
- connect the turbine power supply cable (Fig. 4 A) to a switch box with a
differential thermomagnetic circuit breaker (HE1101: 25 Amp. - HE1501: 40
Amp.) equipped with a power light (Fig. 4 C).
The cord 2 x 1.5 mm
2
(Fig. 4 B) must be connected to the same electrical box and
connected to a HB or HF arm or EP3 unit with an electric or pneumatic tool igni-
tion system for remote starting. Ensuring grounding wire connections is very
important.
N.B.: Electrical connections materials are not standardly supplied and must be
provided by the general electric system installation technician.
These operations must be performed by a qualified electrician (according to
regulation CEI 64-8 in accordance with legal decree 46-90).
Connecting to the compressed air system
Assemble the pressure regulator (9), respecting the direction of the arrow, com-
plete with its pressure gauge (4).
The compressed air supply line (Ø 3/4") must be regulated through knob (9A) to
a maximum pressure of 6 bar (see pressure gauge 4). Carry out the adjustment
and lock knob (9A) by pushing it as far as it will go.
IMPORTANT: Only filtered dry air must be used.
This operation must be carried out by suitably qualified personnel.
MACHINE USE
Turn on the main switch (Fig. 4 D).
Manual mode
In MANUAL mode, the unit operates continuously:
- when manual mode is selected, turbine 1 is started up immediately;
- if push button (33) is pushed a second time, turbine 2 is started up;
- if push button (33) is pushed a third time, turbine 1 is cut off;
- if push button (33) is pushed a fourth time, turbine 2 is cut off and the unit swit-
ches to "automatic" mode.
Turn the knob (27) to OFF to switch the shut down the machine.
Automatic mode
In automatic mode, the turbine is started by remote control. The unit may be star-
ted up in one of two ways, depending on the conditions in effect on the HB or HF
arms or EP3 units with automatic electro-pneumatic systems:
1) The commutator (MAN, "0", AUT) is set to MAN:
- turbine 1 is started up immediately;
- turbine 2 is started up when required, depending on the strength of the vacuum
created in the suction pipe. If the vacuum is high, turbine 2 is not started up; if
it is low, turbine 2 is started up. If turbine 2 has been started up and the vacuum
in the suction pipe exceeds the set value, turbine 2 is stopped.
To turn off turbine 1, set the switch to "0", and turbine 1 will go off after 1 minu-
te, remaining on standby.
2) The commutator (MAN, "0", AUT) is set to AUT:
- turbine 1 is started up whenever an electrical or pneumatic tool is started up;
- turbine 2 is started up when required, depending on the strength of the vacuum
created in the suction pipe. If the vacuum is high, turbine 2 is not started up; if
it is low, turbine 2 is started up. If turbine 2 has been started up and the vacuum
in the suction pipe exceeds the set value, turbine 2 is stopped.
To turn off turbine 2, turn off the tools. Turbine 2 will go off after 1 minute, remai-
ning on standby. Turn the knob (27) to OFF to switch the shut down the machine.
Starting (400 V - 50 Hz model)
- Turn the knob (27) to ON to switch the turbine on, LEDS 28-29-30-31 will light-
up in sequence. LEDS 30-31 will then switch off automatically;
- LED 29 lights permanently to indicate that the turbine is in AUTOMATIC mode,

Checking the direction of rotation of the turbine motor
The pump has a tree-phase motor and is designed to rotate in both directions:
during the installation of the turbine and initial start-up, check that the air flow mat-
ches the direction shown on the adhesive arrows.
2
Alternate use of turbines 1 and 2
The microprocessor of the electronic control is specifically programmed to
alternate the position of the turbines so that they are used for the same amount of
time.
Checking the direction of rotation of the pump
The pump has a tree-phase motor and is designed to rotate in both directions:
during the installation of the turbine and initial start-up, check that the air flow of
both pump matches the direction shown on the adhesive arrows.
Otherwise, reconnect the power cord, inverting two phases.
INDICATORS, SAFETY DEVICES AND ALARMS
All RUPES turbines automatically display the following messages:
Filter status indicator (fig. 0)
When the turbine is in operation, the
leds indicate the efficiency status of
the filter.
WARNING! In order to read the
efficiency status correctly, the suction
intake must be disconnected from the main line and fully open
☺: new filter or filter in good condition and efficient
: deterioration in the status of the filter
Manual cleaning cycle:
- Make sure that the turbine is correctly fed with compressed air as indicated in
this manual
- With the turbine in operation, run a manual cleaning cycle by pressing the
FILTER CLEANING button
Running the manual cleaning cycle restores filter status.
: A flashing red led indicates a risk of filter clogging (FILTER CHECK). If filter
efficiency cannot be restored, contact an authorised Rupes service centre to
check the status of the filter.
Low vacuum warning (on model HE1101 - HE1501 only)
Message "MINIMUM VACUUM" displays when the vacuum is low.
This problem may originate from one of the following causes:
- Leaks in the vacuum system (verify there are no leaks and contact the support
center if necessary)
- Excessive number of active suction points (reduce the number or active suction
points in order to optimize suction in all locations)
Stop due to overtemperature
The pump is fitted with a temperature sensor (37). If the temperature exceeds the
limit, the turbine stops and message
displays.
As soon as the correct temperature value is reached, message "TEMPERATURE
OK: power cycle the unit to restart it" displays.
If the problem persists, immediately stop the turbine using the main switch and
contact the support center.
Stop triggered by magnetothermal device (on model HE1101 - HE1501 only)
If one or both magnetothermal protection devices enable, message "TURBINE
STOPPED" (x = "1", "2", "1 and 2") displays. If only one of the 2 pumps stops,
it is possible to continue operating the turbine with 1 pump only.
Contact the support center for assistance.
Safety valve
Each turbine is fitted with a vacuum-limiting safety valve (36), which is calibrated
to limit the vacuum value and prevent the machine from overheating.
RUPES Spa shall not be responsible for direct or indirect damage originating from
the tampering with or alteration of the safety valve.
