General description KXA-...
The principle of operation for the KXS-/KXA-Series of sensors is based on the three-electrode-principle.
With this measuring principle a counter-electrode is essential. This is usually provided by the machine or
plant potential, or galvanically connected by the BE wire (functional earth). The adjustment can be made
with the EasyTeach by Wire function directly from the control panel or with the EasyTeach by Magnet
function on the device itself.
The maximum achievable sensing distances can be more than 100 mm, dependent on the diameter of
the sensor and the dielectric constant ε
The KXA- evaluation unit is suitable for connecting 1 or 2 probes with the possibility of 2 switching points
being realised. A further classification is the assignment to the housing sizes of the sensors.
• The 'MINI' version is for use with M5, M8 M12 and M16 sensors
• The versions without the pre-fix 'MINI' are for use with M18, M30 and M32 sensors
The recommended evaluation unit should always be used, in order to exploit the optimal adjustment
range, this means from sensing distance zero to maximum. Using the wrong evaluation unit will limit the
adjustable range.

Mounting
The device must be mounted securely. For this the housing has four recesses and two holes.
