Important notes
Important information on copyright, liability and warran-
ty provisions, as well as on equipment users and com-
pany obligations, can be found in the separate manual
"Important notes on and safety instructions for Bosch
Test Equipment". These instructions must be carefully
studied prior to start-up, connection and operation of
the FSA 740 Edition and must always be heeded.

Safety instructions
All the pertinent safety instructions can be found in
the separate manual "Important notes on and safety
instructions for Bosch Test Equipment". These instruc-
tions must be carefully studied prior to start-up, con-
nection and operation of the FSA 740 Edition and must
always be heeded.
2.3
Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)
The FSA 740 Edition satisfies the requirements of the
EMC directive 2004/108/EG.
i
The FSA 740 Edition is a class/category A product
as defined by EN 55 022. The FSA 740 Edition may
cause high-frequency household interference (radio
interference) so that interference suppression may
be necessary. In such cases the user may be re-
quired to take the appropriate action.
2.4
Measuring category
FSA 740 Edition complies with the general safety
requirements for electrical testers, measuring in-
struments and accessories in EN 61010-1 and
EN 61010-2-030.
FSA 740 Edition is designed for test and measurement
circuits with no direct mains voltage system connection
(Category 0, motor vehicle testers).

Use
The FSA 740 Edition vehicle system analysis is a modu-
lar test device used for test engineering purposes in au-
tomotive workshops. FSA 740 Edition records vehicle-
specific signals and routes them via the USB interface
to a Windows-based PC. The FSA system software is
installed on the PC. The FSA System software contains
the following functions:
R
Vehicle identification.
R
Settings.
R
Vehicle system analysis with
$
Test steps (testing of gasoline and diesel engines)
$
URI.
$
Signal generator (e.g. for testing sensors).
$
Component test (testing of vehicle components).
$
Characteristic recorder.
$
Multipurpose oscilloscope.
$
Ignition oscilloscope, primary.
$
Ignition oscilloscope, secondary.
!
The maximum permissible measurement volt-
age at the Multi measurement inputs is
60 VDC/30 VAC/42 VACpeak. FSA 740 Edition is
therefore not to be used for checking isolation from
the supply on electric and hybrid vehicles. We rec-
ommend FSA 050 to measure the absence of voltage.
Measurement curves which have been judged good
can be saved in the measuring system as comparison
curves. These can then be used to assess the measure-
ment results. FSA 740 Edition has also been designed
to be networked with other ASA workshop network
systems.
The KTS modules enables you to perform control unit
diagnosis via the ESI[tronic]
be extended to form an exhaust gas measuring device.
