1. APPLICATION - GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF FILTER OPERATION
We congratulate you on your choice of our new, latest-generation external canister filter of the UNIMAX Professional
series. The most important advantages of these filters include:
• Large filter insert capacity, ensuring long-lasting filtration effectiveness also in large aquariums.
• Low-noise filter operation, due to application of two smaller silent-running pumps.
• Proper composition of filtrating media (mechanical, chemical and biological) warrants convenient and effective re-
moval of impurities from the aquarium, maintenance of clear water in the tank and therefore assures well-being of
aquarium residents.
• Possibility of output adjustment.
• Possibility of water aeration by a sprinkler.
• Built-in mechanism serving for air removal on startup from the inside of the filter and elastic intake conduits, for the
purpose of automatic filling of the filter with water. This mechanism ensures maximum convenience for the user, elimi-
nating the need for manual filling of the filter with water.
• Possibility of equipping of a UNIMAX Professional series filter with a sterilizer emitting ultraviolet radiation (UV-C),
which acts as a germicide, destroying also algae floating in the aquarium. Application of this type of sterilizers in
aquarium filters is a pioneer solution, greatly enhancing the effectiveness of water filtration. The sterilizer is not stand-
ard filter equipment. It may be purchased as an option only from our trade network and installed in the filter by the
user.
The task of the external canister filter is purification and aeration of water in aquariums (oxygenation of water takes place
through the sprinkler).
The filter can cooperate with aquarium equipment of other manufacturers, but it achieves maximum effectiveness with
AQUAEL products.
The aquarium capacities recommended in technical data are maximum values, however filters of this series may also be
applied in smaller tanks. When choosing a proper external filter, you should also consider the number and requirements
of the fish inhabiting the aquarium.
Prior to the launching of the pumps and commencement of the filtration process, the filter should be filled with water.
This operation can be carried out without necessity of opening the filter, with the use of appropriate mechanism, which
determines the convenience of use of filters of this series. This mechanism draws in water from the aquarium, and its
operation and maintenance are described in detail in section 6.1.
NOTES:
• The filter can service only one aquarium! The attempt to use the filter for two aquaria simultaneously will inevitably lead
to a situation where the water level in one of the tanks will descend and raise in the other one, which will cause flooding of the
room! [Even though the process can proceed very slowly, but it will happen certainly].
• In case of overheating (e.g. seized rotor of either pump due to litter or dry operation), the thermal switch installed in
the pumps will disconnect them from the electric power supply until they have cooled down. Switching back on will take
place automatically.
