1. General description

7
7
The Grundfos DME dosing pump is a self-priming
8
diaphragm pump.
8
The pump consists of:
9
• a cabinet incorporating the drive unit and elec-
10
tronics,
10
11
• a dosing head with back plate, diaphragm,
11
valves, connections and vent valve and
11
• a control panel incorporating display and but-
11
tons. The control panel can be fitted either to the
12
front or to the side of the cabinet.
13
Being equipped with a stepper motor, this dosing
14
pump is unique in its field. The stepper motor offers
14
the possibility of varying the capacity by changing
14
the duration of the dosing stroke.
14
Furthermore, the motor is controlled in such a way
15
that the dosing gets as even and constant as possi-
17
ble, irrespective of the capacity range in which the
17
pump is operating.
18
This is carried out as follows:
18
19
The speed of the suction stroke is kept constant and
19
the stroke relatively short, irrespective of the capa-
19
city. Contrary to conventional pumps, which generate
20
the dosing stroke as a short pulse, the duration of
21
the dosing stroke will be as long as possible. Thus,
22
an even dosing without peak values is ensured. As
23
the pump is always dosing at full stroke length, it
ensures the same high accuracy and suction capa-
24
bility, irrespective of the capacity, which is infinitely
25
variable in the ratio of 1:1000.
26
The pump features an LCD display and a user-
27
friendly control panel which gives access to the
28
pump functions.
