Usage

4.1) Intended use
The side approach mechanism is used to perform contacting tests for connectors or contact points
on electronic devices. Operation is possible only with a test fixture specially created for the test
requirement.
4.2) Foreseeable incorrect use
Operation of the side approach mechanism is prohibited if one of the following
incorrect uses applies:
 Operation when housing is not completely assembled
 Operation with unapproved test voltage or unapproved operating pressure
 Unauthorised modification or conversion of the side approach mechanism by the operator or
personnel
 Any working practice that compromises safety
 Any working practice other than performing tests as intended

Commissioning/installation

Detailed information about the proper installation of the various side approach mechanisms can
be found by consulting the installation/assembly drawings included in the delivery.
5.1) Connecting the compressed air supply
The compressed air feed for the pneumatic cylinder is provided via a corresponding control valve.
The speed of travel of the approach mechanism is to be configured using the back pressure valves
with choke on the pneumatic cylinder so that the stop position can be reached at gently and with-
out audible impact in each case.
