Jamming: If over feeding clogs the machine the overload protection feature will activate. In
this situation the motor will stop and the Safety Cut-Out Switch will pop out. Do not attempt to
reset this switch until the blockage has been cleared. You should unplug the unit first.
And then to enable clearance of the blockage unscrew the locking knob and hinge the top hopper
up and away from the main body of the machine.
Warning: Wear gloves and keep well clear of the blades while working under the
opened top hopper.
Once the blockage has been cleared securely replace the top hopper and ensure that the locking
knob is fully tightened. Press the safety cut-out switch back in to reset the machine and
reconnect the plug to continue shredding.
Warning: If ejection chute becomes clogged or cutting blades become
jammed, under no circumstances should you place your hands in ejection chute to try
to clear obstruction, as this will lead to serious injury.
Warning: Before lifting the top hopper to gain access (eg. to clear a blockage)
ensure that the machine is
disconnected. Wait until the machine has come to a complete stop before
releasing the locking knob.
Your shredder has been designed for a low level of maintenance, involving routine cleaning and
inspection. The motor of the shredder is maintenance free and requires no attention. For the
best results the blades must be kept sharp at all times. The blades have dramatically less cutting
power when blunt.The shredder will tear rather than cut when the blades are blunt. When this
occurs reverse the double sided blades or replace the blades immediately.
TOP HOPPER CHUTE
Shredding and mulching is achieved by natural suction of the debris through the blade chamber.
If a finer type mulch is required than is initially achieved refeed the mulch through again until the
desired result is obtained. Do not overfeed and do not feed wet, soggy material into the
shredder as this may clog the blade chamber and the discharge chute.

Attention! Always remove the plug from the socket before starting any
inspection or maintenance work on the machine.

BLADE MAINTENANCE

1. Ensure that the shredder is switched off and disconnected from the mains supply.
2. Remove the top feed assembly by unscrewing the reamer knob securing it to the body of the
machine.
3. The blades have two cutting edges. When the blades become worn they can be reversed to
use the second cutting edge.
Important: Before attempting any maintenance switch the machine off and
disconnect the power cord.
