Installing the PicoScope software

1a. (Recommended: install from web) Go to www.picotech.com/downloads, select your
PicoScope's series and model from the lists, then select the latest version of the
PicoScope 6 software. Download and run the installer.
1b. (Alternative: install from CD) Insert the Pico software disk into your CD drive. If Windows
asks you what to do with the CD, select Run Pico.exe.

In the PicoScope installer, select the language you wish to use.
3.
Follow the on-screen instructions to install the PicoScope software. Do not connect the
oscilloscope until the installation is complete.
4.
If your oscilloscope is mains-powered, connect the power cord to the power adaptor, and
plug it into a mains power socket. Then connect the DC power cord to the back of the
oscilloscope, and switch on the mains power.
5.
Connect the oscilloscope to your PC using the USB cable supplied. See Section 1.5, USB
setup and the connection diagram below for more information.

Wait for Windows to install the oscilloscope. While doing so it will display a message in the
taskbar telling you it has found the device.
7.
Run the software by clicking the new PicoScope 6 icon on your desktop. For more
information on the software, please refer to the PicoScope 6 User's Guide, which you can
find on the software CD, download from
Help menu within the software.
8.
If you wish to use a probe, connect one to Channel A first. Touching the tip of the probe
should result in a small 50 Hz or 60 Hz signal showing in the PicoScope window.

The software disk contains all of the manuals and drivers you will need to develop your own
custom programs easily.

Your PicoScope USB oscilloscope device is supplied with a five-year return-to-manufacturer
