safe operation of the charger
and they understand the
associated dangers (otherwise,
there is a danger of operating
errors and injuries)
• Supervise children (this will
ensure that children do not play
with the charger)
• Cleaning and user
maintenance of the battery
charger shall not be made by
children without supervision

EXPLANATION OF SYMBOLS ON CHARGER
3 Read the instruction manual before use
4 Only use the charger indoors
5 Double insulation (no earth wire required)
6 Fail-safe isolating transformer (the power source is
electrically separated from the transformer output)
7 Automatic shut-off when charger gets too hot (thermic
fuse blows and charger becomes useless)
8 Incorrect polarity of the charger connection could cause
a hazard (only charge the battery with the charger
supplied)
9 Do not dispose of electric tools and batteries together
with household waste material
q NiMH technology provides more energy in a less
environment-polluting way
USE
•
On/off w

- lock the switch for continuous use by pushing switch A
further forward until it snap-locks

Charging battery e
- battery of new tools is not fully charged
- plug charger J into wall socket
- insert charger plug K into battery as illustrated
- charging light H turns on indicating that the battery is
being charged
- after 3 hours the charging operation will be completed,
and the battery may be used
IMPORTANT:
- while charging, the charger and the battery may
become warm to touch; this is normal and does not
indicate a problem
- do not remove battery from tool while it is running
! a battery that is new or has not been used for a
longer period does not develop its full capacity
until after approximately 5 charging/discharging
cycles
- do not repeatedly recharge the battery after only a few
minutes of operation; this may result in a reduction of
operating time and battery efficiency
- the battery must be kept separate from the natural
environment and should not be disposed of as normal
domestic waste (symbol 9 will remind you of this when
the need for disposing occurs)
! prior to disposal protect battery terminals with
heavy tape to prevent short-circuit
- if you anticipate long periods of non-use for the tool, it
is best to unplug the charger from its power source
•
Changing batteries r
- press button G and slide off battery
- mount battery by sliding it onto tool until it snap-locks
•
Changing scissor heads t
! remove battery from tool
- lift button B and hold it while sliding off scissor head
- mount scissor head by sliding it onto tool as illustrated
until it snap-locks
•
Operating the tool
- before using the tool, unplug the charger and
disconnect the tool from the charger
- remove blade protection cap L 2
- switch on the tool
- let the cutting blades run freely for a few seconds
before starting the cut
- do not apply too much pressure on the tool; let the tool
do the work for you
- both straight and curved cuts can be made in an
accurate manner
! the cutting blades become hot during use; do not
touch them before they have cooled down
•
Cutting materials y
- use scissor head C 2 for cutting soft and flexible
materials such as paper, curtains, carpet, leather,
wallpaper, vinyl, foil, etc.
- scissor head C carries symbol D 2 to indicate soft and
flexible materials
- cutting tough materials (such as hard plastics and tin
sheets) with scissor head C 2 will sooner blunt the
blades; we therefore advise to use scissor head E 2
(available as part of SKIL accessory 2610397158) for
cutting tough materials
- observe the following maximum material thicknesses in
order to prevent damaging the blades:
WHEN USING SCISSOR HEAD FOR SOFT
MATERIALS:
cotton fabrics 3 mm
felt 6 mm
leather 4 mm
carpet (backing) 4 mm
vinyl floor-covering 4 mm
