Demands on the operator
The operator is reminded to carefully read the operating instructions prior to using the welding helmet.
Apart from extensive instructions by a competent person, no particular qualification is required for
using the welding helmet.
The welding helmet may only be operated by persons who are at least 16 years old.
An exception would be its use by young persons within the scope of an apprenticeship to achieve
competence, under the supervision of a trainer.
Using the welding helmet merely requires the respective instructions. Special training is not needed.
Mounting and initial operation
The welding filter is equipped with solar cells and is switched ON and OFF automatically.
Place the helmet on the head to adjust the headband.
On first use of the welding helmet, the protective film outside and inside the filter must be peeled off.
Put on the helmet and swing it into operating position; secure the clamping nuts by tightening them.
The sensors and solar cells must always remain clean, any pollution may impact their functionality.
Safety instructions at initial operation
Before starting with the welding work, make sure to test the welding filter at a bright light source, to
see whether the filter darkens correctly.
Switching time from light to dark is
Ambient temperature can be between -5°C and + 55°C. Lower or higher temperatures can lead to
incorrect shading or brightening.
The filter is not suited for laser welding; the face protection does not protect against splintering
objects.
A cover plate in front of the filter is required. Weld spatters can destroy the filter. In such case please
replace the cover plate immediately.
Inspection and maintenance
Only regularly serviced and well maintained equipment can serve as a satisfactory resource.
Lack of servicing and maintenance can lead to unforeseeable accidents and injuries.
Environmental Protection
Recycle unwanted materials instead of disposing of them as waste. All tools,
accessories and packaging should be sorted, taken to a recycling centre and disposed
of in a manner which is compatible with the environment.
Disposal
Do not dispose battery in household waste.
Batteries should be disposed of in a responsible manner,
they must be disposed at appropriate collection point.
Dispose of this product at the end of its working life in compliance with the EU Directive
on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment. When the product is no longer required,
it must be disposed of in an environmentally protective way. Contact your local solid
waste authority for recycling information or give the product for disposal to BGS technic
or to an electrical appliances retailer .
