Rhizomed
Intended Purpose
Rhizomed soft is a thumb brace for
immobilising the saddle joint and/or
metacarpophalangeal joint.
Indications
For all indications which require immobilisation
of the thumb saddle joint and
metacarpophalangeal joint, such as:
• Rhizarthrosis
• Ligament injuries (ski thumb)
• Irritations of the thumb joint
Contraindications
Unstable capsular/ligamentous apparatus
which requires secure fixation in a cast.
Risks / Side Effects
If the aids are too tight, this can cause pressure
sores or constriction of blood vessels or nerves.
Consult your doctor before using this device if
you have the following conditions:
• A condition affecting the application area

• Paraesthesia, circulatory disorders
• Lymph drainage disorders
Tightly fitting aids can cause skin irritation
(pressure, sweat, material).
Intended patient groups
Healthcare professionals should provide care to
the adults and children, applying the available
information on the measurements/sizes and
necessary functions/indications and in line
with the information provided by the
manufacturer, and acting under their own
responsibility.
Applying the support
• Open the belts and slip your hand into the
orthosis (1).
• First pull the belt on the wrist through the
buckle and close it (2).
• Then close both thumb belts crosswise (3).
• Please note: do not fasten the hook and loop
at the thumb too tightly. If you experience
pressure pains loosen the straps. Consult your
orthopaedic technician or doctor should pain
continue.
